iPhone 15 Pro Max Demand Outpacing Last Year's iPhone 14 Pro Max [Report]

Demand for the iPhone 15 Pro Max is outpacing demand for last year's iPhone 14 Pro Max, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Demand for the two standard iPhone 15 models is roughly the same as last year.
Wait times for the iPhone 15 Pro Max are significantly longer than for other models, but this is more than just due to high demand. Current iPhone 15 Pro Max shipments are lower due to a later mass production schedule, and its current production challenges are more pronounced than other models.
Shipping estimates for the iPhone 15 Pro Max in white titanium and natural titanium have slipped to 6-7 weeks while the blue titanium and black titanium colors are at 3-4 weeks.
Kuo notes that demand for the iPhone 15 Pro is weaker than last year, suggesting that some potential buyers may have shifted to the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year.
The analyst also notes that iPhone 15 pre-orders were better than some anticipated, but largely due to conservative expectations following reports that the Chinese government was banning iPhone for government work.
Before the iPhone 15 media event, several media reports about the Chinese government banning the iPhone led to conservative market expectations for the iPhone 15. I think the pre-order results of iPhone 15 are actually similar to those of iPhone 14, but since the market expectations were lowered in advance, the pre-order results of iPhone 15 turned out to be better than feared.
Finally, Kuo says that Huawei's comeback has not affected iPhone 15 pre-orders as those who pre-order iPhones are core users or Apple fans and not target customers for Huawei. The analyst maintains a prediction of 80 million iPhone 15 units shipped this year.
