Apple iPhone 16 May Get Ultra Telephoto Lens [Rumor]

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max may feature an ultra long telephoto lens, according to a new rumor shared by Weibo user "Digital Chat Station".

Ultra telephoto lenses typically have a focal length between 300mm and 1000mm and are often used for sports and wild animal photography. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a 77mm (3X) telephoto lens and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumored to feature a 6X periscope telephoto lens. Based on this rumor, it's possible that the iPhone 16 Pro Max could double this to 12X or even higher.


Notably, the leaker also claims that Apple will equip the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a larger 1/1.14 camera sensor versus the current 1/1.28-inch sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This could bring several benefits including improved low-light performance, increased dynamic range, enhanced depth of field, higher image resolution, and better overall image quality.
