Apple could update its MacBook with an OLED display in 2025 at the earliest, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities.
In a tweet today, Kuo says that the release date of the OLED MacBook is likely dependant on Apple's success in launching OLED iPad Pros.
I think the release date of the OLED MacBook is mainly dependent on the schedule of iPad’s adoption of OLED. MacBook would use OLED in 2025 at the earliest if Apple could successfully release 12.9-inch & 11-inch OLED iPads in 2024.
This lines up with previous reports that Apple is working to develop high brightness tandem OLED panels for iPad and MacBook.
Currently, Apple's new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro feature a mini-LED display with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits, and support for adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz.
