Geohot Announces an Untethered Jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS, iPod touch, iPad

Geohot has announced an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G, 3G, and possibly the iPad!

The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too.

Don't ask about a release date. You won't make it happen any sooner.

We will post more information as it becomes available. Take a look at the video below for a demonstration!

The reason they dont release now is: Apple released a minor update (3.1.3) the hackers warn people not to update (people do) and then stuck, but apple only release minor update before major 1s to see if the hackers find any exploits that apple can later fix before releasing the major update, SO: the hackers keep hold of the exploits for the minor updates, hope that apple dont find these exploits then when apple release the major update (4.0 in our case) then the hackers work on the jailbreak using the exploit previously found for the earlier version. Voila new firmware jailbroken along with the new iphone 4g (possibly ipad. Cannot explain any better than im afraid

The video is a fake, he tries to make people donate $ to his "cause" but the thing is, there is pixel displacement.. you can see it yourselves!

yeah if you look that was an itouch the head phone jack is on the bottom and also the sleep button is on the right side the video has no proof what os is running

Thats not an iphone is an ipt3 (ipod touch 3 generation) and I know because it used voice control. I think he is doing a great job for all of us. Im thankful!!!!

Does this mean untethered jailbreak for all firmware (including 3.1.3 on baseband 5.12.01). If yes then this is the best news in months. How soon it is expected? Any word on unlocking 3.1.3 on 5.12.01 baseband. Please reply. Thanks.

that means nothing, have you thought it may be an earlier version firmware which is jailbroken and earlier versions werent tethered jailbreaks. you dont see the firmware version beforehand

gustavo Leon Madrigal: LOL the simple matter is, if geohot thought we copied him, he'd be the first to call us out on that. As much as you'd like there to be polarization between developers (you know, all of us that are giving you all of this for free), there is not. Nothing will be released for 3.1.3, per agreement between all of those developers you think are fighting each other.

I was thinking you were the same type of people that threat bad others in the dev team.and is funny you mention that there is not a fight among developers, if you post something in the dev team site about geohot or any other, the administrators confused and angry angie delete it... but again the main idea of the response are my apologies to you, directly. at the end, you are the main part of the dev team.

Hi...thanks. I think the response you see on the blog is more due to the fact that we can't possibly support all tools there...just those tools we write. Over time (when more and more people ask for support for tools we don't write), you sometimes see the frustration in those replies.

I respect you & everyone that embodies the Dev Team, George Hotz, Jay Freeman et al, but out of the two mods at your blog, one (Confucious) is simply arrogant to the point of being annoying. what does that video prove? you do not see what f/w its running, nor the modem version. you cant really see anything apart from apples logo. How do you even know thats Geo? you dont see his face, unless some of you recognise his hands lol. . im a believer but only upon seeing! and on viewing this video, i actually saw nothing. to prove it, ill post a video of exact quality and youll see exactly the same, NOWT! i have the greatest respect for geo, and in fact ow his software and his knowledge saved numerous iphones of mine. i cannot wait for his JB release as my brand new iphone 3gs is sat pretty in its box til the day its released. theres no1 who wants this to be true more than me, and i will bend at geos feet if this is genuine

well i dont understand why they can't release it as now y waiting for the iphone 4g if they can break 3g ... 3gs they can damn sure break 4g as well, the 4g phone might be can be something totally different than other iphones .. so may be we are waiting for nothing ? but other than that what ever way you fond to jail break or unlock it keep it a secret and .. mean while why dont you find other way to jail break or unlock Specially 3gs.. that would be a challenge but its tight ?
