Apple is planning to adopt more IPD (Integrated Passive Devices) for new iPhones and iPads, making room for bigger batteries, according to a DigiTimes report.
Apple is expected to significantly increase the adoption of IPD (integrated passive devices) for new iPhones and other iOS products, providing robust business opportunities for manufacturing partners TSMC and Amkor, according to industry sources.
STATS ChipPAC says IPDs are a cost effective way to reduce footprint, reduce interconnection complexity, improve component tolerance, yield and reliability.
"By integrating and fabricating passive devices at the silicon wafer level, STATS ChipPAC is able to fabricate IPDs which are significantly smaller, thinner and with higher performance than standard passive devices."
