Samsung to Exclusively Supply 120Hz OLED Panels for iPhone 13 Pro [Report]

Samsung will reportedly be the exclusive supplier of 120Hz OLED display panels for the iPhone 13 Pro, according to The Elec.

The two higher tier iPhones this year that will use RFPCB will have low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED panels. LTPO OLED is needed for a 120Hz refresh rate screen. These panels will be supplied exclusively by Samsung Display.

The site also notes that Samsung Electro-Mechanics will supply its rigid flexible printed circuit boards (RFPCB) for the iPhone 13. These circuit boards are used to connect the OLED panel with the main board.


Samsung reportedly consider exiting the RFPCB business last year as it has not been profitable for the company; however, it appears Samsung will continue making the boards for the high-end iPhone 13 models. Apple will use FPCB for the remaining two models.

Omdia forecasts that Samsung will supply Apple with 110 million OLED panels this year. LG will supply 50 million and BOE will supply 9 million.
