Amazon has started rolling out a redesigned Fire TV interface with a new home screen, an enhanced Alexa experience, picture-in-picture, user profiles, and more.
The all-new Fire TV experience makes it even easier to find what you want to watch, with a redesigned Main Menu and a more personalized way to discover new entertainment.
Here's a look at the new features...
What's New:
● The all-new Home screen
We revamped the Home screen experience to make it the single destination for you to access all of your fave content. At the center of it all is the new Main Menu, where you can simply scroll over your apps to get a preview of your content and jump directly into your favorite shows on supported streaming services. This makes it faster and easier to get right to the content you want to watch. The Main Menu is a single destination where you can find popular features like Find, Live TV, Library, and your pinned apps.
● Easily find the content you want to watch
We’ve all been there — it’s Friday night and you’re hunkering down to watch something, but have no idea where to start looking. The new ‘Find’ experience makes it easy to search and browse by popular categories like movies, TV shows, free ad-supported content and sports. Plus, you can filter by helpful categories like genre (e.g., comedies, action) to find what you’re in the mood for.
You can also discover additional experiences available on your Fire TV, like cooking classes with Food Network Kitchen, daily fitness with Peloton, or learning new skills with MasterClass.
● New personalized streaming profiles
If you have a full house where everyone has different entertainment tastes, Profiles make it easy to keep your Fire TV experience personalized. You can create up to six profiles that support personalized recommendations, viewing history, watch lists, preferred settings, and more.
You can easily set up Kids Profiles with Amazon Kids, so you can rest easy knowing that your children can only access family-friendly content.
● New Alexa experiences on Fire TV
The all-new Fire TV experience is designed with Alexa at its core, with improved voice controls that give you better control of your entertainment. Jump from destination to destination by saying “Alexa, go to Live TV,” or “Alexa, go to News.” Or if you opt-in, you can set-up an Alexa Voice Profile, and Fire TV will recognize your voice and automatically switch over to your customized profile — just say, “Alexa, switch to my profile.”
There’s a lot you can do with Alexa on Fire TV, which is why the new Alexa Explore destination is easily accessible from the Main Menu so that you can access and view info that’s powered by Alexa, like weather forecasts, stocks, news headlines, and more. You can also view and access your smart home devices.
The update is rolling out to the new Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite first. Higher-end devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Cube won't get the update until early 2021.
