The latest beta of macOS Catalina 10.15.3 reveals that Apple is working on a new 'Pro Mode' that experienced users could enable to get more performance from their Mac, reports 9to5Mac.
The latest macOS Catalina 10.15.3 beta build contains references to a new “Pro Mode,” which can be turned on and off by users. Some strings mention that “Apps may run faster, but battery life may decrease and fan noise may increase” and “Fan speed limit overridden” when the Pro Mode is activated.
As the strings are related to the macOS power management system, it appears that Apple will let users ignore some restrictions meant to save energy in order to gain temporary performance benefits. Similar to Do Not Disturb, it's likely that Pro Mode will automatically be disabled by the next day.
It's unclear which Macs will support 'Pro Mode'; however, the site says some evidence suggests that it could be limited to the new thermal design Apple debuted in the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Earlier today, a new laptop model surfaced in the EEC database that could represent a similar update to the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
