Apple's new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro may contain the hardware needed for bilateral wireless charging, reports leaker Sonny Dickson.
Reliable sources are saying iPhone 11 and 11 Pro do include the hardware for bilateral charging, but that it is software disabled. Uncertain whether this was removed prior to final production run.
Bilateral wireless charging was long predicted as a key feature of the next generation iPhones. However, just before Apple's event, several sources correctly claimed that the feature would not be announced.
We'll find out soon enough if the hardware is indeed present. If it is, perhaps Apple is now planning to enable the feature alongside a new generation of AirPods that are water resistant and offer noise cancellation.
It would be nice if we could add bilateral charging with a simple upgrade later, but simply adding a new Bluetooth earpiece won’t do it.
Other sources reported that Apple was unsatisfied with the inconsistent quality of the phone’s bilateral charging, so knows whether it’ll ever be activated.
