Apple has announced a voluntary recall affecting select 15-inch MacBook Pro units which contain a battery that could overheat and pose a safety risk.
The units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 and can be identified by their serial number. The recall does not affect any other 15-inch MacBook Pro units or other Mac notebooks.
To check if your unit is affected, get your serial number by choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu at the top left of your screen. Enter it at the link below. Apple is asking customers to stop using affected 15-inch MacBook Pro units.
You can have your battery replaced via an Authorized Service Provider, an Apple Store, or Apple Support.
