Samsung Shows Off Foldable Smartphone at Private CES Meeting

Posted January 15, 2018 at 5:19pm by iClarified
Samsung reportedly showed off a foldable smartphone in a private meeting with select clients at CES on January 10th, according to the Korea Herald. The company is also said to have shared its launch schedule and production plans.

“Samsung Display said it has developed a 7.3-inch foldable panel with plans to start production later this year,” an industry source said on condition of anonymity.

Sources say that Samsung showed off both infolding and outfolding phones at the meeting.

The infolding type has a more drastic curvature rate compared to the outfolding type. But due to the durability issue, the outfolding type is considered a more advanced next-generation technology.

It's believed that Samsung will start production of the infolding smartphone as early as November.

“Samsung attracted more clients to the private meeting compared to last year. The phone development seems to be almost finished, raising expectations for the phone launch,” said another source.

This isn't the first time we've heard about Samsung's plans for a foldable smartphone. Previous reports claimed Samsung could release two bendable devices with OLED displays.

I have to admit. I am only here because I misread the title and thought they are showcasing an affordable phone.

I'd like to know how increased the chances of battery explosions might be... Or they'll come up with new tech to replace the Li-On cells we use nowadays. Doesn't matter, it'll be much slower than an iPhone with a degraded battery on iOS 10.2.1 & up soon enough.
Really?

Doesn’t matter, it’s coming soon. You spoke sheeps see al red when Samsung releases something. Try being more realistic. It’s ok and looks good but I will always be an iPhone guy, until Tim Cooks goes backwards again.
But of course

Of course you'll be an iPhone guy; you have to belong to the collective ;)

Isn't this video a few years old? I remember seeing this a long, ling time ago. Bad acting, bad writing and bad production, BTW.
