These are instructions on how to jailbreak your Apple TV running tvOS using liberTV 1.1.

This jailbreak currently supports any fourth generation Apple TV or Apple TV 4K running tvOS 11.0 to 11.1.

Step One
Download the latest liberTV jailbreak IPA from here and Cydia Impactor from here and save them to a folder on your Mac.

Step Nine
Click the Click Me button.

Step Ten
Your device will now be jailbroken! Click the Done button once the process has completed.

Step Eleven
You can now SSH into your device using its IP address, the user 'root', and the password 'alpine'. Once logged it, you should change the root password.

To get the full binpack, enter the following command:
export PATH=$PATH:/jb/usr/bin:/jb/bin:/jb/sbin:/jb/usr/sbin:/jb/usr/local/bin:

● As the screenshot shows, merely setting the path automatically gets you all the binpack (and some fresh binaries at that).
● To enable scp , you have to cp /jb/usr/bin/scp /usr/bin because that's done using a server side binary which must be in dropbear's path
● You can run any self signed binary you want, provided you sign it with the latest jtool - jtool --sign platform --ent plat.ent --inplace binary, with plat.ent being the same entitlements you get from jtool --ent on any of the binpack binaries

A big thanks to Jonathan Levin, Ian Beer, Pangu and everyone else who had a hand in creating this jailbreak.

I have Apple TV 4 jailbroken on tvOS 9.0 using Pangu and everything is perfect, however I can't install latest Kodi 17.4 on tvOS 9.0 so is it worth upgrading to tvOS 11.1 and jailbreak with LiberTV 1.1 or not ??? is Pangu on tvOS 9.0 is a better jailbreak than LiberTV 1.1 jailbreak on tvOS 11.1?? also talking about my ATV 4 is jailbroken on tvOS 9.0, how can i upgrade to tvOS 11.1 using my 11.1 SHSH2 blobs?? is it possible ?? anyone tried to do it because I don't want to brick my ATV 4 and lose the jailbeak. . thanks

Who needs this !?? Why ‘brake it’ when it isn’t broken? Apple TV works just fine, with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and all the other stuff like CBS, ABC, etc...

There is nothing wrong with Apple TV. Used as designed it works just fine right out of the box. I just works. Jail breaking is fine. Until that unintended consequence strikes. People aren't "dumb enough" to spend their hard earned money on an Apple Product if that is their choice. It is also my choice as well. I have 3 Apple TV devices all connected to different TV's. Again, they just work. No fuss, no additional programing, and in my case no Jail breaking. It just works. Have a good day and a happy new year.

If you’re still waiting to jailbreak an Apple TV, you could, instead of applying this jailbreak, get with the last 5 years and use an Android TV box or a Firestick. The only people who buy Apple TV are people who think they want one only to buy it and have it sit there doing mostly nothing from that point forward.

That’s a very presumptuous comment that Apple TV owners don’t use their devices. I use mine all of the time

Yeah I used the 3rd generation even without a jailbreak. I finally got rid of it and skipped the 4th generation and went straight to the 4K model. That was a good idea to wait, because I essentially have an iPad Pro 10.5 in a tiny little box. It has a lot more capability than my old one, and will be great for the future since everything will be 4K at that point. I also use mine everyday! Don’t be biased just because you use other devices!

I think a jailbreak would make it easier to load 3rd party apps onto it to get free movies and TV. Although you can already side load apps like Kodi to get that functionality. This tutorial seems confusing to me because the new Apple TV has no USB C port anymore more. I think you have to transfer the LiberTV via Bluetooth.

Haha that’s funny because it’s exactly what I did. I have an Android tv while the Apple TV has sat in a closet waiting for a jailbreak.
