ASUS has launched Lyra, a new Wi-Fi system for the home.

With its stylish yet unobtrusive circular design, ease of installation, ASUS AiProtection security, and the intuitive mobile app for easy setup and control, Lyra is the perfect solution for today’s bandwidth-hungry, multi-device households.

Lyra uses a tri-band WiFi mesh network with multiple interconnected hubs — one primary hub connected to the internet, and several satellite hubs. For maximum performance, Lyra uses three separate frequency bands. Each hub uses one band to communicate with the others, leaving the other two bands completely free for connections to your devices.

The advanced mesh-networking architecture in Lyra uses a dedicated extra 5GHz frequency band to establish an inter-hub data backbone that is completely isolated from device connections. This leaves one 5GHz and one 2.4GHz frequency band completely free for device connections, with better multi-device performance and less complexity than alternative solutions.

Lyra automatically connects you to the best signal and switches seamlessly between hubs without interruption. It also incorporates ASUS AiProtection, a commercial-grade network security system powered by Trend Micro Smart Home Network. The built-in AiProtection software offers automatic regular and rapid-reaction updates that ensures you always have the very latest protection. AiProtection also protects 'dumb' IoT devices such as IP webcams or smarthome devices without built-in security protection.

AiProtection works transparently inside Lyra to protect the entire network, using an intrusion prevention system (IPS) with a sophisticated deep packet inspection (DPI) engine that analyzes the contents of all data packets entering or leaving the home network, and blocks malicious or suspicious packets, regardless of the device they originated from. AiProtection blocks common internet-based attacks before they reach the network, and if an infected device is detected on the network, the software will instantly block it to prevent it from sending any personal information to malicious servers.

Lyra setup is done via the ASUS Lyra mobile app. The app connects to Lyra via Bluetooth for initial setup and when adding extra hubs. You can also use the app to easily manage user devices, internet usage allowances, and app permissions.

You can purchase the Lyra Home Wi-Fi System with 3 hubs for $399 from the link below...

Ducking stupid. Incredibly overpriced prosumer gear. Do you need this. Unequivocally and undoubtedly, no. Wifi vendors are marketing that you need a repeater in your home. Do you? Perhaps. Worth 4 bills for a repeater. Ducking stupid.
