According to TSMC sources, the new iPhone will come without a home button, reports the Chinese Economic Daily News.
TSMC appears to have indicated a number of design changes and new applications of the 'iPhone 8' at the TSMC 2017 NA Technology Symposium held in Taipei on May 25.
Apple will use an optical fingerprint sensor to enable authentication directly on the screen, said the report. Additionally, the new iPhone devices will also come with invisible infrared image sensors to enhance the functionality of high-pixel camera and to enable AR applications.
Sources also revealed that screen ratio of the new iPhone has changed from 16:9 to 18.5:9. This aligns with rumors that predict the display will extend lower for a new 'function area'.
Check out this hands-on video with a dummy model to get an idea of what the device might look like. There's also a hands-on video with an alleged iPhone 8 case that may show how the size of the device differs.
