Pegatron Says It Could Expand U.S. Production 3-5 Fold If Necessary

Pegatron Chairman TH Tung indicated that Pegatron could increase U.S. production 3-5 fold if necessary at a company year-end banquet, reports the Chinese Economic Daily News.

Tung said expansion would not be too difficult thanks to its past experience. However, increased expansion in America would involve the use of automated production lines and may not add that many jobs.

Currently, Pegatron operates plants in California and Indiana which are used for a small volume of production and providing maintenance services.


President-Elect Donald Trump has been pushing for more companies to make their products in America and for foreign companies to invest in American manufacturing facilities. It's unclear if he will succeed in getting Apple to increase U.S. manufacturing; however, Apple has already asked its assemblers to investigate the possibility.
