Apple Drops USB-C Adaptor Prices Following Complaints Over New MacBook Pro

Apple has dropped prices of its new MacBook Pro following complaints from professional users who are upset over the lack of ports.

The company provided the following statement to The Verge about the price drop.

"We recognize that many users, especially pros, rely on legacy connectors to get work done today and they face a transition. We want to help them move to the latest technology and peripherals, as well as accelerate the growth of this new ecosystem. Through the end of the year, we are reducing prices on all USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 peripherals we sell, as well as the prices on Apple's USB-C adapters and cables.”

Starting now, all prices for USB-C adapters have been dropped by $6 to $20:

● USB-C to traditional USB adapter from $19 to $9
● Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter from $49 to $29
● USB-C to Lightning cable (1 meter) from $25 to $19
● USB-C to Lightning cable (2 meters) from $35 to $29
● Multiport adapter with HDMI, USB, and USB-C from $69 to $49
● Multiport adapter with VGA, USB, and USB-C from $69 to $49

Apple is also cutting prices of USB-C peripherals by around 25%. The SanDisk USB-C SD card reader is now $29, down from $49.

Despite the price drops, Apple's store may not be the cheapest place to get USB-C adapters and cables. We posted a list of the various ones you may need last week. Check it out here.

Huge drops in these prices is just proof that Apple was gouging customers and the new MacBook Pro was designed to force the need for these adapters that obviously have profane profit margins. Apple has been exposed and Tim Cook is a crook.

It takes one to know one! Exposed to what? Besides, it's always been the case when users buy cords for ports since the beginning of the computers. Eventually, one port will be used compared to multiple ports actually combined.

Now it's time to drop the Belkin price for the dual lightning charger for the iPhone 7. Or have apple come out with a reasonable priced one, cause $40 for an adapter, Belkin is on that crazy weed if they think that is a decent price

probably do a return/exchange at the store you got them from. They should be able to just refund the difference, but this is Apple.

Other companies are staring to make USB-C stuff while others are in the infancy of updating to USB-C. The wait will be worth it.

If you need to buy all those adaptors. It's still going to be $184 on top of the MacBook with TouchBar for $1799. That's nearly 2000 before you can start using it.

The pro users rather shouldn't buy these MacBooks. That would be the message Apple understands. Unfortunately the wast majority of Apple users are far far away from being pro and therefore Apple can continue to erode it's foundation without noticing for a long time to come. It is unfortunate that the company has lost it's foresight about what is genuinely important.

Even the most biggest mistakes can be undone, but to lose touch? Other companies made their computers with USB-C also, yet people may not be ready, but change is coming, but at least we're not forced to move on.

Apple doesn't drop prices for holidays ever, maybe 3rd party retailers will but Apple itself won't

Apple never sells anything at a discount. Ever. The ones you see that seem to have heir prices slashed are refurbished.
