Check out this leaked image of Google's rumored new Pixel smartphone, obtained by VentureBeat. Google is expected to unveil several new gadgets at a hardware event on October 4th including a Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphone.
The smartphones will ditch the Nexus branding and reportedly be built by HTC.
The Google Pixel, the smaller of the two devices, was first detailed under its Sailfish codename by Android Police in June. That report said the phone would have a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core 2.0GHz 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 2770 mAh battery, a 12MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera. It also said users could expect a top-mounted headphone jack, a fingerprint scanner on the rear (à la Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P), and a USB-C port on the bottom. The Google Pixel XL will sport similar specs except for a 5.5-inch QHD display, presumably more powerful processor, and a 3450mAh battery, also according to Android Police.
The phones are said to launch on Verizon unlocked for a starting price of $649.
Google copies? A used 100"s of patents founded by others, yet they have billions so they can afford the lawsuits when they say they invented a square box to make phone calls. When cell phones from 1980"s were much larger and a similar design shape . PLEASE
Bashing the new Google smartphone doesn't help. New smartphones from any company is a good thing. This allows the consumer more choice and forced companies to innovate on their products. As a owner of a iPhone 7 Plus, I like the phone very much and it fits into my workflow, profession, and lifestyle very well. I'm not going to bash or name call a person who chooses an Android phone. Whatever, fits into ones lifestyle, financial circumstances or choice of features is up to that person. Belittling and name calling people doesn't help and is childish. People have many reasons for why they choosing the smartphone they do. No one puts a gun to your head and forces you to buy it......you choose it for you and what you want to do with it. People please stop name calling and bashing each other for the smartphone we use.
The biggest thing about this phone is going to be built OS built for THIS phone. You shouldn't have to go overkill with hardware specs for a mobile OS. All of these octa-core devices are simply showing everybody how Android is being ran inefficiently. Google mainly is making this phone to show people how Android OS should be ran on a device.
I have seen more android phones from up and coming Chinese companies that boast better hardware at a fraction of the price. This thing simply have no wow factors. And Samsung just taught us that big international brands don't stand less of a chance of exploding compare to those 3rd world startups that are rising out of the capitals from selling knockoffs.
Google, it took you more than 10 years to realize that you need to copy Apple's frost-covered bottom dock/icon drawer. At least give some credit to the one OS, Apple's iOS, that has inspired you and whom you've copied from more than anything else in the world!
Lawmakers blame people for wanting to make money, thats whats what pays for their companies benefits, taxes, buildings, employees. They just do not get it. They need billions in contingencies to covers market downturns, employees healthcare , increasing business insurance , expenditures, warranty coverage times. They just do not understand that logic frankly they do not care. Just keep complaining about the expense , when the cause is all their dam regulations .,
$649 with less then $200 in parts and maybe $100 for the research. So maybe $250-300 total cost ... profit $350 or so not bad. UPSURD TAX RATE NEAR 40%. . So basically the profit drops substantially in the US, . The lawmakers just do not understand . They want the tax rate to stay the same to pay for all garbage pet projects that almost rarely benefit the people who need it.

Without Google apps on app store my iphone 7 will just be another candy crush device.
In return apple made only one app on Google Play, that app is to steal Android users
Please. Google phones are only good for tinkerers and people who like to tryout android before release. As a phone they are decent, but not even close to the flagship of any company at least in recent years
