iPhone 7 to Get 3GB of RAM [Report]

Apple is planning to increase the memory in the iPhone 7 to 3GB of RAM, according to a new DigiTimes report. The site didn't specify whether all models would gain the additional memory or just the larger 5.5-inch Plus model.

Increasing built-in memory capacity at next-generation smartphones, including new iPhone devices, will further ramp up demand for memory products in the third quarter, said sources, noting that the mobile DRAM capacity of the next-generation iPhone is expected to increase to 3GB from 2GB previously, while those for new Android phones are expected to raise to 6GB from 4GB.

This lines up with an earlier report from TrendForce and another from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Both those reports predicted it would be the 5.5-inch model that got 3GB of RAM.

I predict that after this release of iphone, since it's already 3gb ram, they will next update the processor.. Which i presume 3 cores? Because apple will not give you the full power in terms of hardware.. Ios is so powerful but is trapped inside crappy specs.. Imagine samsung galaxy s7's hardware with ios on it.. I guess that's the backup plan apple is keeping..

What 'crappy specs'? Thanks to metal and ram optimization, the phones have been blazing fast.

That is the software you are talking. Don't get me wrong. I love the optimization of ios.. It's the hardware that I'm not satisfied with.. It is like they are holding on to something

It's not really the same because the plus has the smart connector, no headphone jack, second speaker grill, and slightly different antenna lines. The smaller versions have all this except the smart connector. The rest is yet to come on the inside.

I agree.. Apple is always late in updating it's hardware.. To the point every devices coming out for me is now bs.. 3Gb of ram? for what? 2 Gb is already ok.. What can a 3gb do now? Ow I know, ios 10 will slow all of your devices if you don't have 3Gb of ram.. I am sure of it.. Goodbye apple

Except the camera will be beyond 4K and no surprise and more variety in what it can do. Not to mention the Lumia lasted only a few years all by the same CEO.
