Apple is Installing Metal Detectors at WWDC Following Orlando Tragedy [Photo]

Apple is installing metal detectors at the entrance to WWDC, a first for the event.

Nick Frey, co-founder & developer of @WorkflowHQ, shared a photo of the metal detectors being set up on Twitter.

Metal detectors going up. That’s a first. #WWDC16


The added security measure follows a shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florido by Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, a 29 year old that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. The shooting claimed the lives of at least 50.

Apple CEO Tim Cook addressed tragedy on Twitter:

Our hearts go out to the victims of the unspeakable tragedy in #Orlando, their families and all who grieve with them.

It would accomplish that people know how to fight back and learn from history.
