Instagram to Switch From Chronological Feed to Algorithm Based Feed

Instagram has announced plans to switch from a chronological based feed to an algorithm based one.

The company says that users don't see on average about 70% of their feeds. Instagram hopes that by switching to an algorithm based feed, you'll see more of the posts you care about.

To improve your experience, your feed will soon be ordered to show the moments we believe you will care about the most. The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.

If your favorite musician shares a video from last night’s concert, it will be waiting for you when you wake up, no matter how many accounts you follow or what time zone you live in. And when your best friend posts a photo of her new puppy, you won’t miss it.

The new feed will arrive in the 'coming months'. You can download Instagram from the App Store for free.

Now it's becoming more and more clear that it's turning into a mini Facebook

I think is a good idea cause usually if u don't open IG for a few days u end up scrowling away to see what post u missed from you favorite friend. Now now you won't miss them post

Sounds like pay per play to me. Monetising their purchase, well played Facebook.
