iPhone Dev-Team Releases PwnageTool 3.1.3 With 3GS Jailbreak Support

The iPhone Dev-Team has released PwnageTool 3.1.3 which adds OS 3.1 support for the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G.

The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 - PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box. If your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 preinstalled and is not Pwned then there is no tested jailbreak solution at the moment.

The iPod 2G is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the iPod 2G was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 - PwnageTool does not support the iPod 2G with 3.1 software out of the box.

DETAILS:
1. GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G(S) with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service then you should only update your device with an .ipsw that is made with the new PwnageTool. There are no second chances with this. You need to remember that PwnageTool will provide an upgrade path to newer versions of the iPhone software in the future.
2. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
3. Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
4. At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the 3.1 capable version of PwnageTool.
5. PwnageTool will work for the iPhone 3GS assuming you have already Pwned it at 3.0 or 3.0.1
6. PwnageTool will work for the iPod touch 2G assuming you have already Pwned it at 3.0 or 3.0.1
7. PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G(S) and the iPod touch (1st Generation and 2nd Generation) but NOT the iPod touch 3rd generation.
8. For 3G and 3G(S) users who are Pwned, PwnageTool is your key to updating in the future, just remember to never install an update directly from Apple, always use an .ipsw that has been created with PwnageTool.
9. There is no Windows version of PwnageTool it is a Mac OS X tool only, we are not developing a Windows version of PwnageTool.

hey guys is there any chance that someone would use pwnage tool to restore and activate a iphone 3GS with 3.0.1 deleted firmware????that the 3.0.1 is deleted and there is no current firmware installed

Hello, a new user to macs, i created a custom firmware ipsw, my only issue is Im on official carrier, so I didnt click on Activate, however I do travel so I need my phone to unlocked aswell. I noticed 'Enable Baseband' is greyed out, does this mean my phone will not have its baseband updated to the 3.1's version? Just want to know if I use PwanageTool is there even a chance to update your baseband to 3.1's Also do I lose tethering option on 3.1? Would appreciate a prompt response For ref: Im on 3.0.1 JB

Hi, If you are on 3.01 and have never upgraded to 3.1 official, then yes, you can use ultrasn0w from cydia to use the phone unlocked overseas. Do not upgrade to stock apple firmware, always use pwnage tool, otherwise your baseband will get upgraded and you will lose the unlock, regardless if you are on an official carrier. Pwnage also maintains the tethering settings. I am from the UK on unofficial carrier (orange UK) and am unlocked and have tethering enabled on 3.1, thanks to pwnage! Hope this helps.

Check bittorent guys, there are shedloads of custom ipsw files out there, they are all generic, only dependent on iphone model (iphone 2g, 3g, 3gs).

Hi All, Seeing alot of posts here, some with contradicting info... Simple question, I have a 3GS, never pwned, but jailbroken via redsn0w to 3.0.1. I've built a custom 3.1 pwn file on my Mac, golden question, as it has never been pwned and JB via redsnow, do I connect via DFU OR Restore mode? Please advise!!

I upgraded over the weekend from 3.0 to 3.1. I was JB on 3.0 with redsn0w and never pwn. I created and custom 3.1 pwn file and updated via Restore mode. My phone is working file with no issues.

Might need some help here. Got the 3GS on release day. Jailbroke the 3.0 OS using my windows pc (this was late July). Phone screwed up a day after apple stopped signing certificates, and I had to completely restore. Now I'm on 3.1. Is it possible for me to jailbreak my phone still (I have a MacBook). Or am I just SOL?

Are there any Tethering options here in the US with a jailbroken 3GS on 3.1? I'm currently running jailbroken 3.0 on my 3GS and was thinking about upgrading, but I don't want to lose the carrier hack that allowed tethering. Thoughts? PS: Thanks for your hard work!!!

I was also JB on 3.0 with the carrier hack to allow for tethering. After I updated to 3.1 via pwn, I still have my tethering.

it works, i know trusting someone with your phone is alittle scary, but i had my fingers crossed the whole time while doing this myself. I made the custom ipsw file and can prove i used it on my phone, check back on that blog i will post a screenshot showing im on 3.1 with baseband 4.26.08

It works! I'll restore all my stuff in a few mins.. For the MMS, should I see some picture attach option in the Messages app? I don't.. Also, I hate that pineapple logo. On the Info screen, I see Not Available for Network.. don't remember what it even said before though...

For MMS you should get an option in itunes to update your carrier settings, make sure itunes is up to date if it is not working. The pineapple logo I did for myself, sorry if you dont like it I didnt have a nice custom one made. For your network mine says not available but its not an issue still works fine, before it said att.(possible fix in the future?) To fix your carrier logo not showing up next to your signal bars, open cydia and install MakeItMine, This is just a cosmetic issue.

Can someone clear this up for me, i am a bit confused still...when i got my iphone it was 3.0.1(not jailbreak) but stupid me updated it to 3.1. So does pwnagetool jailbreak 3.1 version?

Your phone needs to be a 3GS on 3.0/3.0.1 and currently jailbroken it won't work if you already updated to 3.1 just read the post it's not that difficult to understand.

I used purplera1n to jailbreak my 3gs on 3.0 and redsn0w to jailbreak 3.0.1 and pwnagetool works fine on 3.1 for me

were you on a jailbroken 3.0 or 3.0.1 firmware before you jailbroke 3.1? or were you factory 3.1 fresh from apple then jailbroke and were successful? ... even though they said it can only be done on jailbroken 3.0 or 3.0.1, just wondering what you did!

cant put them on dfu mode i have lates update of mac os x version 10.5.8 on my alumminium macbook.i have been trying to do it i cant.!! i got 3gs running on 3.0 jailbreak. never be pawn before so i have to restore from dfu mode but i cant do it . please help

you restore from recovery mode....turn off the phone, plug into the usb while holding the home button until itunes finds your phone in recovery mode

power off your 3gs-hold down the home button and connect to pc-itunes with find your iphone in recovery mode, hold shift and click restore browse for the custom .ipsw file and continue with the restore as normal-cydia and icy are pre installed-enjoy-*you will loose your carrier logo...not sure why...

Works fine for me follow the instructions...put you phone in recovery mode NOT dfu. It comes with the pwnage tool boot logo sorry that's what I picked. It does not fix the carrier logo issue but it's not a big deal. Your baseband is preserverd for an unlock.
