Multiple supply chain reports today are corroborating an earlier rumor that the Apple iPhone 7 will not have a headphone jack.

Both anzhuo.cn and feng.com claim the change is confirmed. Interesting, both sites say that Apple is planing to release a wireless Bluetooth headset.

Supply chain news that Apple has confirmed canceled 3.5mm headphone jack on the next iPhone, meanwhile, will replace wired headset Bluetooth wireless headset

Wei Feng network news, the latest coming from the mouth of the supply chain of wind: Apple indeed plans to cancel the traditional body in the next generation iPhone headphone jack, and will start from this year for the iPhone with wireless Bluetooth headsets.

Back in November, Macotakara reported that Apple was considering dropping the headphone jack to provide more space inside the iPhone and allow for a thinner design.

I would not mind only if they had a USB C or lighting adapter to add 3.5 headphone jack.

It would have to be as thick as iPhone 4 in order to fit in a USB-C.

Apple is trying to create a true water proof phone with no holes or jacks. They will utilise the screen itself to as the speaker and mic. Charging is via wifi or electrodes. Your wired headphones will need an adapter to interface with the electrodes to use them...otherwise use BT headsets. BT headsets can recharge in a minute for 30 mins of use via the electrodes.

Well what if you are in a car that only has the aux port but not anyway to connect BT? Not cars have CarPlay such as Chevy. Just saying.

It's not a bad idea, but doubtless a lot of people will be annoyed by it. I expect they will be on hand to sell us overpriced adapters, but for people already using bt headphones, it's not a problem and iPhone users will forget all about 3.5mm jacks within a year. It will be an annoying inconvenience at first though.

It would become the 2nd iPhone I won't buy (iPhone 6S being the first one). I'm pretty sure many people hate adapters enough to do the same, so maybe Apple would better back away from such an idea...

Nothing wrong with it (except ugly antenna gaps maybe), but I have an iPhone 6 already and nothing really changed (except for "the only thing" that changed (which Apple believes is everything (which I believe is nothing relevant)))

Apple is always fund of innovations that doesn't give the device(s) any form of being essential(what one can't do without). There's no sense in the removal of the headphone jack from the forth coming iPhone 7. They should concentrate more on things to add to their devices to make it more unique and essential, just like samsung's SHealth which detects blood pressure and your heartbeats, that's what I call essential, it saves you lots of stress to go to the hospital to check that.. The headphone jack removal is just another way of doing NONSENSE in an apple device..

Download the heart rate app that works with your camera. Done now you have a heart rate sensor for your iPhone. Not to mention HealthKit.

I'm confused... it seems to me that the thickest item on the iPhone is currently the camera... it actually sticks out after all. So removing the headphone jack wouldn't seem to solve anything in terms of thickness.

This is a horrible, horrible idea. So, we should either irradiate ourselves even more (by using Bluetooth headphones) or carry another adapter everywhere we go (Lightning to headphone jack). Hey, why not cancel the built-in speaker while we are at it, even more space saved. And the screen.

what would be so bad having an adapter from the lightening port? all it would do is extend the headphones cable what 50mm more? lol you're making it shound like the adapter would be a 50" sized adapter.

When you have a phone with a protruding adapter at the bottom, there is always the danger that either the lightning port or the adapter itself might break, especially while on the move. Also, it is neither the most convenient nor the most elegant thing in the world to have a phone, that is supposedly the pinnacle of industrial design, with an ugly rectangular piece of plastic (adapter) sticking at the bottom. On the bright side, with the 'hugely' reduced phone thickness we will be getting reduced battery life, along with another aesthetically-pleasing Smart Battery ( = hump) Case monstrosity from Apple. Here's an idea for you Apple - next thing you should do is remove the lightning port altogether and force people to use wireless charging stations (and Wi-Fi syncing via iTunes). Hey, in the past few years we already got two new kind of SIM cards (mainly) thanks to Apple - the SIM slot should go too. I will not be satisfied if I am not able to have a phone as thin as a sheet of paper, that I can easily crush with a minimum of force using my bare hands. And make it twice as expensive as the iPad Pro please.

This is just a rumor, I wouldn't worry about it by that much. What if people are telling apple that the phone is thin enough and what if they think about going back to bendgate and may end up thinking sacrificing the aux port is a bad idea, or better yet why not use the 2.5mm headphone jack to convert it? Also, in terms of removing lightning port, I doubt that happened. Other companies may use wireless charging but still put the charging port on it, plus we're in luck that there are those companies that make stickers for iPhone to make it wireless charging and before that cases exist to make your iPhone do that. I assure you though the battery is supposed to be 3,100mAh in the next iPhone.

If they do switch to Bluetooth only and/or lighting cable headphones they should include an adapter with the phone so you can still use 3.5 headphones. If they do it wouldn't be a big deal in my opinion. Them switching to a lighting jack for headphones will in a sense change the wired headphone industry. They'll make money from licensing the lightning jack for headphones to other companies along with headphone companies starting a new section of products.

I don't really understand this obsession with making devices as thin as possible only to have bendgate issues all over again. Aren't the current iPhones thin enough already? What's the point? I would gladly have an extra millimetre or two if it means better battery life.

In a way I agree. The iPhone 6 is already thin as hell to begin with. Like you said the thin they get it will be easier to bend. Unless they use a stronger material. If the rumors are true I see them finally using liquid metal technology for the chassis. It's light and crazy strong.

It's not just about thickness, I'd imagine it's about having one hole that liquid can get in, to assist in getting a device that's waterproof.
