Apple Considers Earlier Launch of the iPhone 7 Next Year?

Posted November 5, 2015 at 12:28am by iClarified
Apple is considering an earlier than usual launch of the iPhone 7 next year, reports AppleInsider.

Since the iPhone 5, Apple has launched its new iPhones in late September. For example, the iPhone 6s arrived on September 25th and the iPhone 6 arrived on September 19th. However, sources say the iPhone 7 could reach customers earlier.

But that pattern could end next year with an earlier launch, a reliable source told AppleInsider on Wednesday. The same person has, in the past, provided accurate information about the Apple's future product plans. Exactly how early it might launch, however, remains unknown. Up until the iPhone 4s in 2011, the first four generations of iPhone upgrades launched in the summer, in the months of June and July. The lone outlier from those launch windows was the iPhone 4s, which became available in October.

Apple is apparently trying to complete the development cycle of the iPhone 7 even faster than normal, giving it the option to launch before late-September. It's still early in the development stages so plans could change.

A report from earlier today said that Apple was looking to further distinguish the larger 5.5-inch iPhone from the 4.7-inch iPhone by equipping the iPhone 7 Plus with 3GB of RAM and leaving the iPhone 7 at 2GB.

Well they should lol, don't matter to me since I only pay $5 a month for it and can upgrade up to 3 times a year.

They should do it for the summer. Mark the 10 year anniversary since the original.

10 year anniversary would be in 2017. The first iPhone came out in 2007. It would be the 10th phone released though. So in a way you're right.

Won't happen. It's a rumor nothing more. Product cycle will still be a year. They won't chance pissing off 6s/6s+ owners

pissing off how? By releasing another phone after they chose to buy the 6s? It's been the same cycle and I always wait for the s versions to come out and always works out for me.

Apple has consistently launched iPhones in September for the past 4 iPhones and I don't think they will change. Think this is just another rumor.

What does that mean for the people who bought the 6s under the Apple's iPhone program. Will we be able to upgrade earlier, at the time of the 7 release, or do we have to pay the remainder of the 12 months to get the iPhone 7.

If they do this I'm sure they will allow you to upgrade considering the whole program is based on the idea of always having the latest iPhone, if not I'm sure they would have a serious law suit because it would be false advertisement because they sold you on the program to "have the latest iPhone". Hope this helps :)

Being that I work at the Apple Store, if they were to release the iPhone 7 before the year mark that the iPhone 6S came out, unfortunately for those who purchased it through the iPhone upgrade program, you'd have to wait the full 12 months even if you do submit your full 12 months worth of payments. It's a part of the policy. So I'm sure they'd wait the year.
