Leather Apple Watch Band Hardware Can Be Retrofitted With Third-Party Bands [Video]

The hardware for the leather Apple Watch band can be retrofitted with third-party bands, notes Unbox Therapy. Using a pentalobe screwdriver you can disassemble the connector and slide on your own band!

Keep in mind, this customization will only work if you're starting with the Apple Watch featuring the leather band (Classic Buckle or Modern Buckle). If you're in the market for an Apple Watch I'd recommend buying the classic or modern buckle, therefore you won't be trapped in the Apple Watch strap ecosystem. Careful with the pentalobe screws. they are tiny!

Someone, a while back, invested attachments to add gold or silver to the band clippings. Any watch uses standing settings (for attachments). It's not hard to design around those measurements, even if they don't publicly announce them.
