Duet Display is a new app from a team of ex-Apple engineers that lets you use your iPad or iPhone as an external touchscreen display without the lag.
Work more effectively with duet. An additional display can increase productivity for engineers, musicians, designers, and artists by up to 48%. To setup, download and open duet on your Mac (for free) and on iOS. Connect your iDevice to your Mac using a lightning or 30 pin cable. Done.
No need to worry about firewall settings, Wi-Fi speed or your 802.11n network. Duet is secure, simple, and allows you to use your iOS and OS X devices in harmony. And feel free to use your touch screen for interaction with your new display.
Features: -Lag Free -Plug and Play Setup -60 Frames Per Second -Retina Display (optional) -Secure Wired Connection -Touch Enabled -Same Day Support
You can download Duet Display from the App Store for a limited time price of $9.99.
Don't buy this for older iPads with 5.1.1. I was hoping to give an iPad 1,1 an extension on life but failed. Although the iTunes web page claims (now claimed?) display duet works with any iPad running 5.1.1 or later, it does not. There is an error on the iTunes site and dd only runs on iOS 6 or later according to the developer's website. I had to fight thru Apple's iTunes refund process for almost an hour but got there in the end.
This is really cool, does need a official apple cable wouldn't work with my non certified. Little bit of lag, but not very noticeable. Easily worth the £6.99!
There is some lag with my iPad 3. It worked but not great. The touchscreen doesn't work. Every time you touch the screen it brings up the "Apple" menu from the top left. I wasn't able to do anything as far as touching to open or close apps on the iPad. It's worth the $9.99.
