iOS 8.1.2 May Still Be Vulnerable to the TaiG Jailbreak

Apple released iOS 8.1.2 today and surprisingly it appears that the firmware may still be vulnerable to the TaiG jailbreak.

Early reports note that the TaiG jailbreak utility doesn't work with iOS 8.1.2; however, that's to be expected as there are values that would need to be changed for the new firmware.

The first clue that the jailbreak may not have been patched is that the kernel of iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.1.2 have the same version number.

@iAdam1n: Well it seems that the kernel exploit used in TaiG for iOS 8.1.1 is not patched as the kernel version is the same on 8.1.2 as 8.1.1.

The second clue comes from Apple itself via iH8Sn0w.

Not sure if this was already said... But judging by http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6598, 8.1.2 should still be vulnerable to taig jb.

When examining the support document detailing the security content of iOS 8.1.2 there is no mention of any exploits closed that would break the jailbreak.

To be safe, if you were late in jailbreaking iOS 8.1.1 we suggest you update using iTunes while the signing window is still open, then visit the iClarified Jailbreak Wizard for instructions on how to jailbreak. If you have already jailbroken, take care not to update to iOS 8.1.2 until a jailbreak is 100% confirmed.

If a TaiG jailbreak does get released 4 iOS 8.1.2 then I'll be happy to re jailbreak my iPod touch 5th gen again and get the things I had before on 8.1.1

I.am currently on 8.1 should I update to 8.1.2 ? Is it better than Pangu ? Any pros and cons?

@ M/2. If you use MFi controllers or use RetroArch (n64/ps1 emulator) then i would upgrade to 8.1.2 TaiG (upon release) because compatibility is better over 8.1 (8.2 will have more compatibility). If you don't use MFi controllers or not interested in RetroArch then I'd stay on Pangu 8.1. Difference between Pangu and TaiG is that TaiG is a more transparent jailbreak: meaning less files installed post jailbreak completion. But if you are worried if one jailbreak is better than the other stop worrying. There isn't enough to completely say one is better than the other. Some say Pangu is better than TaiG because the creator of Pangu has "credible history" unlike the creator of TaiG according to many sources. Creator of TaiG has done some questionable/shady things in the past (Pre-8.1.1 jailbreak).

Can u guys confirm that all the Tweaks that worked well with Pangu IOS 8.1 JB are working on TaiG IOS 8.1.1 and 8.2? Then only I wanna update bec I rushed to update to iOS 8 from IOS 7.1.2 when Pangu released the jailbreak and had to wait so long for Devs to get these working on iOS 8.1.

They are probably doing that right now, they were probably sleeping when 8.1.2 came out

TaiG should update their jailbreak to make it work and compatable with iOS 8.1.2
