Apple iPhone 6 Beats Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 in App Launching Speed Test [Video]

Posted October 2, 2014 at 7:57pm by iClarified
The Apple iPhone 6 beat the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 in an app launching speed test performed by PhoneBuff.

Each phone was raced through a series of apps including the camera, photos, web browser, Dictionary.com, Photoshop Touch, Google Earth, Temple Run 2, Fifa 14, Smash Hit, and Angry Birds. The series of apps was then opened for a second time to test the multi-tasking abilities of each device.

Take a look at the results in the video below!

Yeah and their excuse is, "it allows flexibility" basically why didn't you bring it back when you found out for we don't take returns or trades! Awesome customer service!!!

...can't really bend "speed",or can U?..so would U rather compromise, or buy the real thing, and "not" the next big thing, as they claimed!

My respect Mr. David but anybody that knows only a bit about programming and how this work knows that iphone completely pauses the app on background while android execute a true multitasking, So all those app were running on the back (android) while iphone had everything paused. I wish you could do the test with apps that really keeps running in the back (iphone) like Music player, Internet radio station apps, Skype and some others........then we may have legit results.
Great!

It is legit. These are choices made by the companies about how multitasking is handled. ios apps can run in the background if the app maker programmed it to do so. However, if required, it can also be "paused". Android app makers can do it too, or can't they? Anyway, Google designed Android to do multitasking the way they do and so it has an impact. Good or bad, depends on how you use the app, OS & device. In real world use, each has its benefits. In this particular test, it just shows that a user using ios can "resume" a task faster. And that HTC trashes Samsung. So the question shouldn't be why iOS is faster, but why is Samsung's device is so pathetically slower than HTC's?

Seems hard and samsung phones use more energy have more memory but use it much less efficiently. They are kind of clunky really and less efficient.

iPhone 6 performed well. This kinda speed is why I like the iPhone.

Sammyyyyyyy!!! What's up with mocking Apple about CPU cores, RAM gigabytes and more efficient components?!?!? I will tell what just happened by the iPhone 6: F-A-T-A-L-I-T-Y!!!

You guys do realize that th FTC on m8 is about to be early replaced bed year , almost making it a year older than the iPhone 6, and there isn't a big difference there either, it's obvious the iPhone 6 is going to win since it came out a few weeks ago. And remember that those androids devices push more than twice the pixels in their screens, FYI Higher resolution graphics more processing power needed, I would like to see the note 4 against the two and not use the iPhone 6 but the 6 plus. I personally think there are 3 smart phones worth buying, moto x the best looking and feeling phone I've hold, iPhone for iOS users and note 4 for big screen users
Great!
Great! - October 3, 2014 at 10:18am
Understood. But those androids are also sporting quad core CPUs with higher Rams. Hardware wise, they appear to be more powerful. Yes they have higher resolutions to push to. However that is their design choice. Apple doesn't go around trying to get the highest resolutions or highest CPU cores or throw in lots of ram. It is their design choice to balance it this particular way to ensure optimum battery, size, weight and other considerations. But even then, the software and OS is better coupled to the hardware which allows for better sustained speeds and performance all round.

Alexander, the hd in phones that have million more pixels than iPhones don't make a difference. It's like cramming in more and it's still as clear like the 6. I did see a video comparison between lgg3 and 6 yet both look the same but as far as performance goes. The 5s and HTC one m8 test had iphone fast at some parts and HTC was couple seconds behind. The new phones this year might have a chance to beat the 6 judging how much more power is out in compared to last year's but then again just barely win.

Out of thr box with less apps running at the bacground will give you high benchmark. Just keep it thay way to keep your iphone speed.

"iDon'tKnow" clearly does not know... My iPhone performs the same today with 296 apps installed as it did when I had just the stock apps installed.

Idontknow doesn't know that ios does multitasking smartly. He's thinking of android's way. Besides, the benchmark obviously had both clean booted. Otherwise the benchmark cannot be called a benchmark.

Haha! Im using both iphone and samsung on daily basis for years now. If own both of them you will see and feel the difference. If you want simple and easy you will choose iphone. If you want to explore and want to benefit the smart phone you will like samsung. The reason i keep the iphone is for the imsg and facetime. Iphone is a smart phone and samsung is a smarter phone. Same goes with the user.

iDontKnow - October 4, 2014 at 5:35am
Darryl. Installing 296 apps without running the will not affect the preformance of your phone. Try running them 1 by 1 for 30 seconds each app. Then once you are done. Look in the mirror and say what you have mentioned here. Less available RAM will give you poor performance. Apple needs to give us the device with higher specs for the price we paid. I hope everyone will agree.

Once you jailbreak an iPhone you can cut out more of the fluff that Apple adds like stupid animations. It will become insanely fast and responsive. Trust me.

STUPID TEST
Darryn
Darryn - October 3, 2014 at 8:19am
It's actually not... It's like a real-world test... You would be switching between apps and having to load the app from scratch is a huge waste of time and here Samsung boasts all of this hardware specs but it can't keep the app in a paused state like an iPhone can? That's poor optimisation... Even the HTC which is also running Android can optimise itself better...
zib
zib - October 2, 2014 at 9:27pm
most stupid test ever. Even if I want the iPhone to win this the test has to be stock apps only and not third party apps. Third party apps and games would be coded totally different between Android and IOS and there would certainly be differences in optimizations etc. The iPhone would probably come out as a winner anyway due to Apples tight software, hardware integration but this test just hurts more than proves that with all the possible flaws.

It's a good thing they only used third party apps then. So it's completely legit. So you can go back under that bridge.
Darryn
Darryn - October 3, 2014 at 8:29am
And an another note... Apple's strictness to app developers allows for software to flow more easily and have less shit like as you can see with the HTC running quite well with re-opening the apps again and Samsung having to reload the app from scratch... So please... Go back to your preferred bridge..

What's the point of opening an app 2 millisecons faster if you can't even put the phone on your pocket because it'll bend

That's iPhone 6 Plus, it's iPhone 6 which is 4.7' inch disp. Unfortunately Samsung lost the chance to win.
gamerscul9870
gamerscul9870 - October 2, 2014 at 9:06pm
The point is to save time to get to everything else quicker. I do every daily objective on angry birds, ninja slash, 8 ball pool, and temple run 2 and the faster it is, the quicker I can get readupy in the morning. Don't see what bending had to do with it.

What now trolls who assumed it was the same. Still 1 gb of ram and dual core yet big performance makes all the difference. Let it sync through.
