Leaked Photo Reveals New Charger for iPhone 6?

Posted August 24, 2014 at 2:32pm by iClarified
Apple may be planning to unveil a new charger design alongside its new Lightning cable with reversible USB connector. Gizmobic spotted a photo of the alleged new charger on Weibo.

Notably, the charger features a design that is very similar to the Australian charger; however, it is a standard NEMA-1 plug with two flat parallel blades.

Take a look at the photo below. If you haven't already seen the reversible USB connector in action, check that out here.

If authentic, Apple will likely debut the new plug and cable when it unveils the iPhone 6 on September 9th.

Be nice if charged wireless

Wireless charging is cool but adds a lot of bulk and weight to the design of the phone. Plus you have to lug around the stand or pad used to charge the phone, and it still had to be plugged in. It takes just about the same amount of time to plug the phone in using a traditional cord and it's a lot easier to carry around with you.

It's a huge stick like charger, uses motion to charge the phone even by little movement.

This is a step backwards in technology. Bigger is not better when it comes to a charger.

Ya bigger isn't always better, but this charger is. With the dimples and being wider it's actually a lot easier to plug in and unplug.

Well, duh! Obviously there needs to be a redesigned charger if a cable with the new reversible USB connector is going to fit.

It is kind of obvious but this was just to show the new charger.

The cable is reversible and fits in existing USB ports so no there doesn't necessarily have to be a redesign of the wall unit.

So are you saying that we won't be able to use the new cable with current wall units?

The new cable WILL be able to be used in all existing USB ports and be usb 3 compatible. With this new redesigned charger it will be easier to remove it from the wall when pulling it out of the wall. I've personal used the Australian one and it's a lot easier to unplug and plug. The dimples actually help a lot.
