TMZ has posted photos that are allegedly of a leaked iPhone 6 smuggled out of a Foxconn factory in China.

The owner of the phone says the smuggler is his friend -- an ex-employee -- who worked in Foxconn's hardware department designing the outer casing for the new model. As for the inner workings -- we're told it's not running an authentic Apple IOS, which is SOP during the development stage for security purposes.

The device is said to be lighter and have a new sensor on the front.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to confirm the validity of these claims. The photos look just like recent mockups and leaks; however, we won't know what Apple has in-store until the officially unveiling expected on September 9th. This is obviously fake guys. The font on the calendar app is WAY off, it doesn't have the iOS 8 Health app, and the home screen layout that comes with iOS 8 isn't there.

Seeing a lot of these mockups/leaked photos etc. have those thick white strips around the phone (antenna lines I believe). I can't believe Apple will be releasing something that UGLY, it looks cheap and tacky.

Good point, however for me, I prefer the naked iPhone approach. Hopefully the black/space gray version will not show it much if in fact these are legit photos.

Please people! That is definitely NOT an Apple design and will never pass quality control. Besides, Apple iPhones have no memory card slots and do not run Android. This is a pretender running Android.

That elongated sensor showing on the white one is pissing me off. It will be black this year as a no brainer if this is legit!

What's so bad about it? It's just a sensor that's in the home button.
