Apple Officially Welcomes Beats to the Family, Begins Processing Sales Through the Apple Store

Apple has put up a new microsite to officially welcome Beats to the family.

Today we are excited to officially welcome Beats Music and Beats Electronics to the Apple family. Music has always held a special place in our hearts, and we’re thrilled to join forces with a group of people who love it as much as we do. Beats cofounders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre have created beautiful products that have helped millions of people deepen their connection to music. We’re delighted to be working with the team to elevate that experience even further. And we can’t wait to hear what’s next.

The Beats site also announced the deal saying, "There's a new instrument in the Apple family."

Musicians rely on their instruments to give structure and form to their imagination. At the dawn of digital record, the Macintosh computer was the instrument of choice. A the beginning of portable digital music, the iPod placed the library of the world's music in your pocket. The iPhone became not only an instrument for music but also the center of your connected life. The iPad extended this capability with a user interface and apps that allowed you to compose a symphony on the subway. Starting today, we at Beats are fortunate to add our instrument to this legacy by joining Apple. The products we build together will allow us to reimagine sound once again and to continue this great tradition of bringing imagination to life.

Finally, Vivendi/Universal Music Group announced the closing of its interest sale in Beats.

Vivendi announced today that its subsidiary UMG has completed the sale of its share (approximately 13%) in Beats to Apple for a total amount of 404 million USD.

When browsing the Beats site a new "Buy now on the Apple Store" button has been added to the various product pages.

The job cuts amount to about 200 positions that will no longer exist once the two companies are fully merged.

Ya you failed to show the part of the article that says the people that are losing there jobs are getting positions at apple. Nobody's getting fired and kicked to street because of this. Oh and did anyone see samsungs ripoff headphones they're making now. I'm surprised iClarified didn't post a article about it.

What kind of jobs being offered to the high level accountants at Beats? Apple already has these overlapping positions filled.Wearing blue shirts and selling and greeting at the Apple store that something they can offer.

What we're doing with them is testing which ones make worth selling and those go to the store, we deliver, they sell.

He has a point, helped some people since Ai saw a few with beats products, but the only one I liked is the pill. Even apple actually tests anyone's electronics out and recommends s them on their site.
