Microsoft is offering up to $650 to anyone who trades in a MacBook Air for the new Surface Pro 3 tablet.

Get the best of a laptop and the best of a tablet now. Hurry in to your local Microsoft retail store and save up to $650 on the Surface Pro 3.

Here's the company's pitch:
● Barely tipping the scales at 1.76 pounds, the new 12-inch Surface Pro 3 has all the power and performance of a premium laptop in a thin and lightweight design. It also comes with the all-new Surface Pen which delivers a natural writing and drawing experience.

● Larger Screen, lighter form: Featuring a gorgeous 12-inch display encased in a sleek magnesium frame, Surface Pro 3 is the thinnest and lightest in our Pro family. Refined to its essential elements, Surface Pro 3 is as beautiful as it is functional so you can stay productive from anywhere. Just slip it into your bag or backpack and go.

● Run your favorite programs and apps: Pre-loaded with Windows 8.1 Pro, you can install your favorite desktop software, including the full Microsoft Office Suite (sold separately) and thousands of programs created for the Windows platform. Surface Pro 3 also has a 4th generation Intel Core processor which delivers blazing-fast performance.

Microsoft unveiled the Surface Pro 3 tablet in late May. It starts at $799. More details on the device can be found here.

I suppose that Microsoft is not going to destroy them, so any ideas whether they will resell the Airs? I'd love to buy a cheap one :)

They'll have to pry my MacBook Air from my cold dead hands. No way I'd want to switch to Windows. I have a Windows laptop as a secondary computer and I absolutely hate using it.

Very nice promotion on Microsoft's move, I'm sure there are MAC OSX users who would definitely be interested in switching over to Windows platform. That said, I will not be giving up my MacBook Air. Definitely one of the best investments I have made in a long time.

Windows has some advantages over apple and apple over windows. Let us not be stupid here and accuse Microsoft of inferiority. This is not the case. Without commercializing here for free apple is good for some things and windows for a few others. There is a reason why most offices still use windows and a reason why movie crews and artists etc. use apple products. See the pattern here? Now stop crying over this. Only iPhone is superior but not their other products.

The reason people still use windows is that IBM chose the widows OS way back when cause it was cheaper plain and simple. the only thing microsoft has over apple is its servers and office product line. As for its servers most Fortune 500 companies are now going the Linux route ...but the question people who are considering buying a computer product is ...Why would microsoft want to buy my apple product ? i think they know like most of us nobody in their right mind would lol

Reminds me of parents who tie a pork chop around their child's neck to get a dog to interact with them.

apple products are just superior ..Microsoft is going to give the Mac Books to their employees to use and give us the surface. fitting name Surface looks good on the surface but when you dig deeper ...its too much work updates virus software etc...

My experience with MacBook Pro retina, beat laptop ever hands down. The reviews say it all about them, but the display really makes the effects more cooler, the way you make the icons pop out when you scroll with them, and that's one of the best things. I like about the mb.

Who would trade a superior top rated machine for such useless crap that doesn't have any thought in it whatsoever?
