I0n1c Releases Video Demonstrating 'Cyberelevat0r' Untethered Jailbreak of iOS 7.1.1 [Watch]

Posted May 21, 2014 at 3:00pm by iClarified
I0n1c has posted a video demonstrating Cyberelevat0r, his untethered jailbreak of iOS 7.1.1.

The jailbreak, which has not yet been released, is unique in that it uses a kernel bug which is hidden inside functionality that can be easily reached, even from within the iOS application sandbox. You can learn more about how the jailbreak works here.

I0n1c says, "The story of the #Cyberelevat0r iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak is a story full of misconceptions and misinformation."

We are hopeful that a jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1 will eventually be released to the public as i0n1c, winocm, and GTISC have all developed their own jailbreaks. Any release would likely happen after confirming whether or not the exploits exist in iOS 8.

Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS to be informed as soon as there are any further developments. If you haven't already you can check if your device can be jailbroken by visiting the iClarified Jailbreak Wizard.

What is the point of naming a jailbreak if there is no intention to release? Probably because it might be released privately for government or corporate use. Stefan Esser has released exploits in the past for public use, several versions of the Dev Team's redsn0w used his info. Regardless it is a shame the large majority of pirating thieves ruin it for the small group of us who do not steal from devs.

Well, lets see, he names it to leave a teaser for everyone that, that specific jailbreak will be released when iOS 8 Comes out. Why he won't release it now you ask? If you ever payed attention to the jailbreaking situation right now; It was completely different than before. Finding exploits to jailbreak an iDevice is becoming harder and harder ever since 2010. Now use your mind to think this. You saw how the Evasi0n 7 Jailbreak was patched? It was patched in 2-3 months. Now add it all up. iPhone 6 and iPad 6 and iPad Mini 3 Will come out in August to October. iOS 8 will come out too. IF HE RELEASES THE JAILBREAK NOW, WE ALL WILL LOOSE THE CHANCE OF INSTANTLY JAILBREAKING THE NEW DEVICES AND THE OLD DEVICES TOO WITH iOS 8 RUNNING ON THOSE DEVICES. Wouldn't you want to jailbreak more devices than less ON NEW FIRMWARE or NOT? If you want the jailbreak now, you will have to wait an undefined amount of time for a new jailbreak to come out BECAUSE IT GETS HARDER AND HARDER TO MAKE ONE EACH TIME. If you wait later, then everyone can JAILBREAK THE NEW DEVICES AND THE OLDER DEVICES ALL ON iOS 8. So everyone gets the cake and the party. Try to think about Short Term vs. Long Term Decision Planning.

BS. I've spent more on Cydia apps than I have on iOS App Store apps, and have never pirated anything from either source. Some of us who have been here since the beginning (iPhone 1, manual shell before Cydia, unlocked in the UK 3am local time online with geohot as he released his very-beta code, made first call on UK Vodafone network with original iPhone to a surprised Voda tech support chap, heh) actually use jailbroken iDevices to simply have a full open Unix handheld. Try using Android for a while rooted in its mess of a file system - jailbroken iOS is so much cleaner. I moved back from a Nexus 7 to this iPad Mini Retina, bought a cheap 16GB one to see whether it was good, it was (I'm writing this jailbroken on 7.0.6) - but need more capacity and bought a 128GB replacement which will serve ALL my needs... well it would if it hadn't arrived with 7.1 installed... So I'm still using this 16GB model with no space and most of my apps missing, and I've got a fresh 128GB model sitting not even set up yet. My problem for buying too late and getting preinstalled 7.1 - but short of waiting till July and attending Stefan's European lecture in order to learn how to roll my own jailbreak, I would happily pay Stefan for a 7.1 Cydia-install JB app. Some of us aren't thieves and scammers. I can't be *that* fucking rare FFS - there are plenty of decent, old hackers out here who aren't focused or leet enough to roll a kernel sploit on a new iOS without weeks of additional learning and have other business we use our jailbroken devices for, surely???

Even if u pay for who ever Stefan is u can't use it jailbreak since if it won't go public what reason does devs update their packages to use firmware, lol even they won't be able to update their packages since they don't have the new version installed...
