iOS 7.1.1 Found to Significantly Improve Battery Life

iOS 7.1.1 Found to Significantly Improve Battery Life

Posted April 24, 2014 at 5:39pm by iClarified
Apple's recently released iOS 7.1.1 firmware has been found to significantly improve battery life, reports ZDNet.

Reporter Adrian Kingsley-Hughes has been tracking how much his battery life drains after six hours of use with each firmware update. Pre iOS 7.0, six hours of use would take his fully charged iPhone down to 74 percent. Following the upgrade to iOS 7.0, his battery life dropped slightly but came back to normal after a few recharge/discharge cycles. However, following the update to iOS 7.1, battery life dropped all the way down to 48% after six hours of use.

Thankfully, the iOS 7.1.1 update appears to have resolved the issue:

"Then came iOS 7.1.1. Following this update I've noticed that things have improved dramatically, and now battery life is only falling to around 76 percent per six hours of average use, which is better than what I was getting pre iOS 7.0."

Upgrade to this ios version has resulted in decrease of the phones battery life, the battery is discharging like crazy, in idle mode the phone battery lasts roughly 5-6 hours. Fix this bug immediately

There's also a big issue with iOS 7.1 and 7.1.1 there's a bug lurking about that causes most iOS devices to either re boot or respring and it's getting very annoying. Please fix this bug issue ASAP.

Hi guys. I have been using iPhones since the original model. Which is the best long lasting battery I found. I could use that full charge for 3 or 4 days. Of course I don't have data plan so I turn my data off. Now after 3G then 3GS then 4 then 4s and last 5. I was still able to get 2 days of use since iPhone 4 to 5. I think the biggest battery drain is relate with 3G network. I was getting 2 full days of use on my iPhone 5 with wifi on 3G on (regular usage). But I was having problem receiving photos with SMS so called Rogers to trying fix that. The guy told me to reset the network setting so I did. To make story shot. That was the only thing that I did still didn't fix my photo with SMS problem. But after that my battery last only 1 day. So in order to get longer battery life, I have to keep turning apps off and 3G off Even sometimes reboot by pressing the power and home button until it turns off Then my battery would last longer. iOS 7.0.6

My battery drains faster after updating to ios 7.1.1. Apple should fix this issue as soon as possible. It's so annoying!

Now all of a sudden my brand new iphone 5s (2 month old) the battery only last half a day since the update. Meaning we have to wait for another update. this is BS, cannot believe this.

apple should concentrate on fitting more capacity inside. even making the phone slightly thicker. in fact, i bet if they made a power user version that was 50% thicker, it would be the best seller. the phone is thin enough. now we need some utility. reminds me of my brother, he saves and saves yet i am still richer than him. i concentrate on how to make more money, not how to nibble on the crumbs. apple, don't bs us with delaying the bigger screen version because you can't find a thin enough battery. it's not a watch. make it thicker, longer, wider for a huge screen and long life experience.

This is the worst crap show I've ever seen. My phone drained in less than 4 hours on standby. I have been charging it all day, and it's still only at 95%. Apple better be firing a bunch of Devs on this one. I have turned off every single feature on my phone possible. It is now an old school cell phone from 2000, but with an LCD. Unbelievable.

Currently using an iPhone 5S 64GB on ios 7.0.4 currently jailbroken and running a very large amount of tweaks (Roughly 13-16GB mostly ui and system function based tweaks - absolutelyNO THEMES). I always keep my brightness at 100% w/ auto brightness off. And I notice slightly less battery life due to aniweather, however, I still get an average 12-15 hours depending on how much data is used or how much video is streamed. I can't speak for others but 7.0.x before 7.1 jailbroken or not seem great on battery life regardless of how it's used. The same can also be said for my ipad mini retina 128GB (also jailbroken on 7.0.4 w/many of the same tweaks on my 5S).

I use an iPhone 5S 64GB for AT&T. Before the 7.1.1 update, when I would go to bed, my phone on average would have about 35% left. Now that I've updated, when I go to bed, in around 15%. Seems like the update made my battery worse.

I found that the update has indeed improved battery life quite significantly. I was actually surprised after using it with my wifi switched on, that it only dropped to 90% from a full charge, using it for almost an hour. I can testify to this!

Yesterday on my iPhone 5 it went from 100% to 55% after 45 minutes of using Safari. It then dropped to 3% after being in my pocket for the following 3 hours (with no use), then once plugged in it instantly changed to 55%. It has been this way for me since iOS 7 Beta 1. Done the resets and a fresh install, background app refresh turned off etc, still it's horrible. The only time the battery appears to run sweet is when cellular data is turned off.
