T-Mobile Announces New $40/Month Simple Starter Plan With 500MB of Data

Posted April 9, 2014 at 4:52pm by iClarified
T-Mobile has announced the first of three new initiatives, a Simple Starter value plan that offers unlimited talk and text and up to 500MB 4G LTE data and tethering for $40 a month. The plan launches on April 12th and is directed to value-conscious wireless customers, promising absolutely no data overages.

"Un-carrier is a movement, not a marketing strategy. We are freeing consumers from the predatory practices of traditional US wireless companies and that includes these plans that start with a low price and a low data limit, but then hit you with insane fees if you send one too many emails," said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. "It's wrong! And I personally want to drive those ridiculous schemes out of this industry. We will continue to be relentless and bring this forced march of change to the market every day so consumers can be creative with and enjoy the true benefits of wireless. I know we have it right and when we all are done reporting results from the first quarter - I think you'll share my conviction."

If you hit the 500MB, T-Mobile will prompt you to purchase a day or week pass or switch to a Simple Choice plan.

The company also noted that the Simple Starter plan does not have international texting and roaming. You'll need a Simple Choice plan for those features.

This is why AT&T didn't change the game with going cheaper. I have had them for 5 years and last year I gave them up. Looks are decieving if a company is greedier than another, plus I'm in Texas and I have perfect coverage. Period. I even tested my iPhone and att's with same model and tmobile clearly won. I couldn't be any happier.

Att is the best coverage in Texas period. With $60 for unlimited call and text 2gb lte on their go plan I'm not moving anywhere.

What's the use when I don't receive calls and their signal does not penetrate my office or my wife's not home. Poor service. I switched back to AT&T in less than a week. T-Mobile sent me a Bill of $140 for 5 days of service in which half the time I spoke to their customer service or the technician. Don't switch unless it works even for free.
