4.7-Inch iPhone 6 'Seems Certain', 5.5-Inch 'May or May Not Launch at the Same Time'

The rumored 4.7-inch iPhone 6 "seems certain" for an August or September launch; however, the rumored 5.5-inch model "may or may not launch at the same time", according to UBS analyst Steve Milunovich. He also suggests that the 5.5-inch device "could be of the same resolution (lower pip), which would help app developers."

Notably, in a recent appearance on CNBC‘s “Smart money: Half Time Report” Milunovich said in passing that his checks suggest the larger iPhone models could conceivably be priced higher than current models.

Barrons relays Milunovich's prediction that the March and June quarters may be weaker than expected for Apple, while Q3 could prove better:

--
In the near term, we believe 1Q procurement, though not fully correlated to sell-in, is coming down a bit. In phones, the primary difference likely is the 5c, which has not sold well. Overall volumes are reflecting a maturing high-end smartphone market. iPad volumes appear to be lower than expected—recall that Dec quarter sell-through was only up 5% YoY. General tablet production is soft with some components down 20- 50% sequentially. We model iPad units declining to 19mn in Mar and 16mn in June. We are below consensus for Mar/Jun quarter revenue; no change in Apple estimates.

Apple’s stock has been fairly listless but is still in an uptrend. Our price target of $625 per share is based on a NTM EV/FCF multiple of 9.5x, in-line with other large cap tech names. The stock may act better this summer in anticipation of new products. We expect a dividend hike and share repurchase guidance on the April earnings call. Our iPhone model is up just 10mn this year at 172mn vs 162mn last year. China Mobile, which appears to be off to a slow start at about 1mn iPhones in Feb, could be sufficient to account for the entire change. The second calendar half may surprise to the upside if either China Mobile or the iPhone 6 gain traction. Although the iPhone 6 could carry a lower margin since we would be surprised if it is priced at much of a premium, unit demand could be strong as surveys suggest Apple users want larger screen sizes and carriers’ 24-month enforced contracts roll off for 4s owners.

Go ahead and laugh and say what you will but if this is true, it's a real dream come true. Perfection at last.

Then I ask myself if there will really be a need for another phone now that we will finally get a perfect size, perfect hardware and running iOS. Wow.

Forgot something. Now they're saying in this article that "Overall volumes are reflecting a maturing high-end smartphone market". When not to long ago they said the low end and mid tier phones where the big money makers and that apples doing it all wrong. Again. It's all a bunch of BS. Don't believe these idiots.

He said fight not flight. He meant fighting the crowds during the holidays. Even though no matter when an iPhone is released you usually have to stand in line and kind of fight to get one because they're so high in demand at release. Releasing it sometime in the summer would help alleviate the holiday crowds and rush. And possibly having an easier time finding one.

"the 5c, which has not sold well" Maybe it's because the non-sense $100 difference? Pay $100 more and get an aluminum body, touch id, m7... So, why would anyone get plastic 5C anyway? If its price would have been $399 while 5S $699 (unlocked) then we won't be talking this right now. Ps: Bigger is better guyz, go get an android phablet, you can satisfy yourselves with wide variety of bigger sizes!

People want 5c because as Apple said, it's a way to describe your personality and it's a way to use plastic if that's what people want just like fandroids, but they also been asking for bigger screen no matter what material they prefer, plus some new phones nowadays are almost iPhone (aluminum) price yet the 5c is one of the two ways people will pay less for the normal price of the iPhone.

Not everyone wants to spend or can afford an extra $100, or have to have the higher end version. Many people are happy with and settle for the cheaper one. If they're new too the smartphone world, kind of like my parents are, the 5C could be a start for them to learn how to use a smartphone. Then maybe they'll eventually buy the higher end version down the road. I've personally seen a lot of 5Cs out in the public. And these people saying the 5C was a flop are bonkers. It may have been a flop in wall streets eyes but it's complete BS. If it is or was such a flop why did it outsell all of the phones, even high end ones sold by every competitor combined last quarter? Don't believe the BS these analysts write.

Just like 5c launched first than the 5s, the same is happening to the larger iPhones, is it that it's one iphone to make at a time due to how many of the same they can ship? Just a reason I'm guessing.
