Pegatron is reportedly set to start mass production of the iPhone 6 in the second quarter of this year at its new factory in Kunshan, China, according to the Commercial Times.
Earlier this year it was reported that Pegatron had landed a contract to manufacturer half of Apple's iPhone 6 orders. It's believed that the new factory and a hiring push was part of an effort by the company to win a contract to manufacture the phone.
The Commercial Times said that production would ramp up in the second quarter but didn't offer any specifics on a release date or how many units will be produced by the company.
Foxconn would likely be the other primary manufacturer of the iPhone 6.
Apple is widely expected increase the screen size of the iPhone with some rumors suggesting a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model could be possible. We've seen a few leaked specs in the past few days but these have yet to be confirmed.
