Warning: iOS 7.1 Patches the Evasi0n7 Jailbreak!

Posted March 10, 2014 at 5:19pm by iClarified
This is a warning to all jailbreakers. Apple has patched the evasi0n7 jailbreak with the release of iOS 7.1.

Please do not update if you wish to retain your jailbreak. You will not be able to downgrade back to to 7.0.6.

More details about iOS 7.1 can be found in the release notes.

For a very limited time you can still upgrade to iOS 7.0.6 by manually selecting the firmware you wish to update to. If you haven't already updated to iOS 7.0.6 we suggest you try. Instructions can be found via the iClarified Jailbreak Wizard.

Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

Update to my last post: Yesterday I was trying to upgrade my jailbroken iPad 3 from iOS 7.0.4 to iOS 7.0.6 by manually selecting firmware in iTunes 11.1.5 (OS 10.9.2), when Apple had already closed the signing window for iOS 7.0.6. Then I got stuck in restore mode with error 3194 in iTunes screen. Instead of upgrade to iOS 7.1 and losing my JB, today I tried to restore again iOS 7.0.6 ipsw file but with iTunes 11.0.4.4 in a WinXP machine. Again the 3194 error appears but then, after a few seconds, the iPad was able to boot again in iOS 7.0.4. This may be helpful if somebody has the same issue.

Postscript: I forgot to mention that before succesfully boot again in iOS 7.0.4, I was trying to restore the ipsw file in dfu mode, unsuccesfully. I don't know if this matters, but could.

Sam seems to have a easier method to solve this issue using Tiny Umbrella. See below!

WTF? Even if they would not have told Apple, who would stop Apple to install the jailbreak themselves and find out what is being called and/or modified? I mean Apple has 100% control over their operating system, and even has debug versions with all sorts of debugging and trace information. Most likely Apple doesn't even have to install it on an iPhone/iPad, but can run the jailbreak on a simulator.

Because of the INCORRECT info showed above in this article, I did still try to upgrade to iOS 7.0.6 manually selecting the firmware, but Apple stopped signing this!! I am stuck with my iPad in restore mode and error 3194!! BEWARE!!

Try to press home and power button together then release home button, it should boot up a white apple and the iPhone should be restarted

Yo bro, I had the same ISSUE, DOWNLOAD: Tiny Umbrella and connect ur ipad in the recovery mode and select. Select the Ipad in the Tiny umbrella Software. You should see exit recovery mode button on the top right side. Click it and wait. Viola! :)

Apple stopped signing 7.0.4 and 7.0.6. Can't install them period. Understood? Now, if you're stuck in recovery mode, one simple way to get out is using TinyUmbrella. Connect your iDevice and clock the option to get out of recovery mode. That's it, back to 7.0.4 if you were trying to update to 7.0.6 Now wait for a 7.1 jailbreak like everyone else. 7.0.4 is not that bad!

I'd also like to know if Apple is signing 7.0.6. I'm currently Jailbroken on 7.0.4 and wish to update to 7.0.6 and then reJB my device. Is this possible or did I miss my chance?

Wow it seems like people have had bad exp's with there JB. Me personally I've been in the JB scene since ios4 and I have not had any probs only with the OTA 7.x.x. with APPLE they were smart with what they were doing bu to tricking Newbies into thinking JB'ing is NOT stable by doing the OTA UD. But myself I did and iTunes UD and my iP4s & 5 & mini THEY are working superbly, I feel it for those who have UD to 7.1 as Evaders are NOT interested in 7.1 as ios8 is not to far away with a whole host of UD's THEY WILL BE stealing from JB SCENE, tweaks like VideoPane-ProTube-Barrel are just a few to hand that make my iDevice just little bit unique to my friends default boring Phone oops I ment iPhone, I love the fact that even my GF can now FT video call me over 3G on an iP4 hehe oh let NOT FORGET MOVIEBOX. iP4s APPLES VGA CABLE 32"" TV= endless entertainment TV SHOW BOX SETS UNRELEASED CINEMA MOVIES IN THE HIGHEST QUILITY. I missed the boat in upgrading to iOS 7.0.6 before apple released 7.1. I'm currently running 6.1... how can I still upgrade to 7.0.6 using itunes? Everytime I try to restore using the downloaded restore ipsw, i get the infamous itunes error. Can anyone please help?!
thevmaxer
thevmaxer - March 10, 2014 at 10:14pm
You can't. Now that Apple has released IOS 7.1, they have stopped signing IOS 7.0.6, and if you restore, you must restore to IOS 7.1 (which is not jailbreakable).

i get error 3194 when trying to manually update to 7.0.6... does that mean signing window is closed?

I'm currently jailbroken on my iphone 5S and ipad 3 on 7.0.4. Is it worth the risk to try to update to 7.0.6 or better to be safe. Can't risk losing it altogether.

When I try to restore to 7.0.6 I get the not the correct firmware message.

I was able to get it to work so they are still signing 7.0.6

What are the exact steps that you used to update? And where did you download 7.0.6?
Ross
Ross - March 10, 2014 at 7:45pm
How do we still get 7.0.6 signed? By using the backup jpsw?
thevmaxer
thevmaxer - March 10, 2014 at 10:17pm
You don't. Apple does the signing when you install the IOS. Since they are not signing IOS 7.0.6 anymore, you missed the train...........

Zach - March 10, 2014 at 7:00pm
Can you still manually restore 7.0.6 firmware? Was just about to go swap my phone at the Apple Store due to a bad home button and hopefully I'll be able to install 7.0.6 still.
Byronnnn
Byronnnn - March 10, 2014 at 8:33pm
They stopped signing 7.0.6, but a replacement device should come with 7.0.x on it, so it will be jailbreakable. However, if it has something below 7.0.6 on it, be sure to install the SSL Fix, which I believe is in the bigboss repo.

I agree with your point, but not with your attitude ;) Jailbreaking is easy and really fun to use. Without adding rubbish packages and tweaks, your iDevice will work like it was before... You can even make it work better than before!! But not all users have the adequate knowledge about it. Believe me, I met a person and he saw my iPhone and he was really impressed with it... He asked me a funny question: "Wow, jailbreak is really cool... If I jailbreak too, my phone will become just like you, eh?" He taught that "Jailbreak" is something more like a theme or something! Many people think this way. To those who think like that, I'd always say: Keep your iPhone original and stay away from jailbreaking. They mostly brick their devices and they don't know they can restore it from DFU mode! But swearing them is not the solution... We should be patient with them and help them out... Not to make them go away.

What a surprise!! It was obvious. But thanks for informing already iClarified :) I'll wait for a couple of days and if the evasi0n team claimed that they cannot currently jailbreak the 7.1, I would update, no matter what! :D Does anyone have any idea that how I can backup my phone and restore it without jailbreak trashes?
Alex
Alex - March 10, 2014 at 5:36pm
Hello, Sadra ! No, you can't retain your Jailbreak after Restore or Update. When you Update or Restore, your Jailbreak will dissapear. I highly recommand you to update to 7.1. It brings a lot of improvements. Dearly, Alex

Sadra - March 10, 2014 at 6:00pm
Hi Alex, I appreciate your response, but it seems that a misunderstanding has occurred. I know that with restoring my JB will be gone, in fact, I want it to be :) But the point is, if I backup my phone before restoring, it will backup a lot of JB-related directories as well (a bunch of /var/mobile/etc files and folders) and iTunes will restore them into my device after iOS restore. I don't want these trash files. They are like JB-dumps which I cannot get rid of. I've searched a lot about "how to remove jailbreak without loosing data" but there's no point in that and almost all of the solutions, provide the same answer: Backup and Restore with those files.

Hola Sandra, en efecto, si restauras, muchos archivos residentes del jailbreak continuarán en tu dispositivo. Mi consejo: restaura como equipo nuevo. Saludos

Hey man, I see you have read my name as "Sandra"! But I'm "Sadra" and in fact, my complete name is "Amir Sadra". I'm persian and I don't speak Spanish. But I got what you are saying from Google Translate and thanks for that man ;)

Ok, got it. Unfortunately you can't keep your files and dump your Jailbreak ( all the Jailbreak files related, ex. var/files/etc ) . When you restore, you lose everything you got on the iPhone. Restore is the only way to clean up your iPhone without any ex-Jailbreak data; unfortunately Anyway. It's highly recommanded to RESTORE your device entirely when a major update it's available.

Ali - March 10, 2014 at 7:02pm
I think iCleaner a cydia app can clean the shit the JB left on your iPhone. You should use it before backing up

I believe you can install IOS 7.1 and set up your phone as "NEW". Then you can install your backup from iTunes which should only have Apple data and apps.
