Analyst Predicts Apple 'iAnywhere' Platform Will Turn Your iPhone Into a Desktop Computer

Posted February 12, 2014 at 4:20pm by iClarified
JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz says Apple may be preparing to release a platform he dubs 'iAnywhere' that would let you dock your iOS device into a display turning it into a full blown desktop computer.

"While not a new idea, our global tech research team believes Apple could be on the cusp of introducing a new category with iAnywhere, a converged MacOS-iOS operating system that allows an iPhone or iPad to dock into a specially configured display to run as a computer," Moskowitz said. "In our view, this category would be a leapfrog event, potentially jumpstarting iPhone and iPad growth as well as peripherals and cloud-based software and services sales."

It's said that Apple could introduce 'iAnywhere' within 12 to 18 months.

What do you think about this concept? Would you want to be able to connect your iDevice to a new cinema display and have it function similar to a Mac? Let us kjnow in the comments.

Like Ubuntu mobile basically? Would be awesome assuming iOS would tottally be disabled when docked and no apps from iOS would run, but the file system would be fully shared and OSX apps had the ability to communicate and continue from where a counterpart iOS app terminated. It's a cool concept but I don't see it happening as something standard until phones have much stronger processors and more RAM and storage to make them useable for powering a desktop. More importantly, I don't see Apple doing it as it will allow to circumvent all the iOS rules once you can compile code on your phone (even if it's from outside iOS, assuming the OSes are linked you'll be able to push it in).

I am surprised this already doesn't exist in the same ecosystem.

If I wanted a desktop, I'd buy a Mac, if I wanted a tablet that RUNS like one only, then ipad without osx on it, applies to iPhone to.

Really not a good idea since the concept of a tablet or phone is portability and specific functions which are fulfilled by using your touch. If i'm gonna use a desktop for my computing needs, i will for sure use a computer with different tools and processing power. Definitely a desktop computer and not a phone or tablet per se ...... Not so good idea

Converged iOS/MacOS X operating system will be like Windows 8 satisfying nobody. It is better to make a dual boot system.
