In an effort to boost China sales, Apple has just opened an official online store on the popular Chinese e-commerce site Tmall (Operated by Alibaba), the Wall Street Journal reports.
Tmall, which launched in 2008 is home to more than 70,000 merchants including brands like Nike and Gap. The Tmall Apple online store has a very similar look and design of its own store webpage it uses at Apple.com
An Alibaba spokeswoman confirmed that the Tmall page is indeed Apple’s and that it opened recently, but declined to comment further. An Apple spokeswoman wasn’t immediately available for comment.
The Tmall store will also be participating in Apple's 'Red Friday' sale, which is essentially a one day sale different Asian markets including China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
Apple opening shop on Tmall, along with Apple's recent China Mobile deal, will surely help make 2014 a strong year for Apple's Chinese markets.
