Apple will release 55-inch and 65-inch 4K televisions during the fourth quarter of next year, predicts Advanced Research Japan Co analyst Masahiko Ishino.
Bloomberg relayed the report which says Apple is still deciding on specifications; however, the models will likely have a frameless design.
LG Display Co., Samsung Electronics Co. and Corning Inc. may be among the suppliers for Apple’s TVs, which may be priced at about $1,500 to $2,500, Ishino said. LG Display may supply more than 70 percent of the liquid-crystal displays, Samsung may make graphic processing units and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 may be used as the cover, he said.
Notably, in July it was reported that Apple had entered into talks with LG about purchasing 55 and 65-Inch Ultra HD TV panels.
Apple is also said to be negotiations with studios and networks to provide content for a television set that emphasizes apps over cable TV.
