A poll of over 46,000 people found that most people prefer the new iOS 7 icons over the old ones, reports TechCrunch. Created by Polar, the poll results indicate that people prefer the new icons almost two to one.
Those numbers represent the cumulative totals for all votes gathered on individual iOS 7 icons by the service since their unveiling at WWDC, and the data reveals that not only do people tend to prefer the iOS 7 versions overall, but they strongly prefer them in most cases. The redesigned Phone icon, for instance, garnered 80 percent pro-votes, with just 20 percent preferring the older design, and the Messages app icon was preferred by 84 percent of respondents, vs. just 16 percent for the older edition.
The old Reminders, Safari, Game Center, Camera, and Calculator app icons were preferred over the new ones but they won by a smaller margin than the iOS 7 icons that beat the iOS 6 ones.
It's thought that Apple may make some changes to its icons in future betas based on user response. You can see a side by side comparison of the old and new icons here.

When you put the individual icons up against each other in a A to B comparison I will agree that most of the iOS 7 icons do look cleaner sleeker and more modern than before... but... when all put together on the home screen the over all effect is quite lackluster. It's all very flat and boring. Very amateur in terms of overall look and feel of the design.
It WASN'T a random poll, it was only the people visiting their site that decided to vote on it. That's hardly proof that the majority of users "prefer" the new icons. This is nothing more than an ad for their site mascarading as scientific research.
Individually the icons are ok, some are good. The problem for me is the inconsistency. Some icons go from light to dark top to bottom, while others go from dark to light. Together it just looks wrong.
Well it does to me.
I will admit it took some getting used to, but iOS7 appearance is growing on me. I agree though... As long as it performs like iOS, that's all that really matters... However it would be interesting to see just what 46k people were polled?
I don't care about polls, I buy SGS4 Google Edition. If I have to choose Androidish iPhone and Android, I choose Android. 26 June will be my last day with iphone since iphone 1.
Statistics never lie; people do. Whoever conducted this survey obviously had an agenda because I don't see how the majority (or anybody, to begin with) will pick the new ones over the old ones.
