Apple iPhone 5S Will Have a 'Killer Feature' [Analyst]

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty said the upcoming Apple iPhone 5S will have a 'killer feature' in an interview on the "Fast Money Halftime Report" with Michelle Caruso-Cabrera.

Barrons notes that Huberty predicted a big comeback for Apple due to software features for the phone, including a 'killer feature'.

"I do believe that AAPL is approaching a bottom. As you have heard, they are talking about returning more cash, and we think they will do that in coming weeks. But people don’t own AAPL for that, they own AAPL for innovation. You saw the Samsung Galaxy S4 come out last week, that shows you the innovation cards are up for grabs. What is lacking in that product [the S4] is a killer feature. We think that’s where Apple will surprise this year. This [iPhone] 5S cycle this year will be about a killer feature that drives consumers increasingly to the platform, and that increases the value of those 500 million accounts."

Apple is said to have already started production of the iPhone 5S which could feature a fingerprint scanner or even NFC capabilities. Release is rumored for between June and August.

Apple iPhone 3G, 4, 5 focuses on phone design much more than software features. 3GS, 4S and 5S focuses on speed, and new functionality. If Apple changed the design of their phone every 6 months, everyone would freak out that they have to buy new cases for their phone every 6 months. I think they have it right. When you buy a phone, you're stuck for at least 2-3 years before upgrading, so why would they change the look of their device every 6 months? Apple's iPhone still works well after 2-3 years, where Androids work like crap after a year and that's why you're always looking to upgrade. You can get the latest iOS on all Apple phones, can Android say that... yeah, that's what I thought. No support, because the phones can't handle shit after the month year it was made.

Very true and very well said. I had to change my android 3 times in 3 years and then had to use refurbished after the first. My iPhone 4 s is do much more stable. Also true on everything else. Well said.

I do still wish they would make the iPhone slightly larger again and less heavy. Also a little more customization and personalization capabilities without jail breaking would be a killer feature or features.

I meant 3 times in 2 years and was given refurbished. Luckily with the new contract I got my iPhone.

All this is a propaganda and marketing plan for Apple . we all remember how they made ppl dream about phenomenon feature in the next big thing "Iphone 5" . and we all know that it was a bit faster with a bit taller and thinner screen phone , nothing more . so iclarified stop lying peace all

and oh , samsung is so stupid coz they didnt tease enough with their "S4" its been couple of months adverts about " GET READY 4" i think. they should learn from apple , from today they started leakin' stuff and teasing for a phone six month yet to come . samsung in a rush to release the next phone or wrist watch or whatever ..

It is a phone with a software link to a watch (optional purchase necessary of course) that will transmit the facetime picture to your wrist and back to the phone in your pocket - sp that you can talk to Scotty at any time........beam me up.

Killer feature? - Slide to shoot feature coming with iOS 7 and we have to activate it with 2 year subscription and separate bullets will exclusivity available in Apple Stores and soon after will have Chinese copies and so on. Finger scan will be pushed by HTC or LG much before iPhone 5s release. Hurry up.

Killer phone lol it will not be an iPhone for sure. NFC chip joke, finger scanner, joke, so what's new? What's going to make it a killer phone? I hope it's more than that? Bigger battery removable would be nice, memory card, wireless charging may be but I don't think that's a big deal to me. Really what else could they add, it's a bit old now each new iPhone really has not given us much to wright home about. A new a7 processor big deal 4s ip5 not enough between them to say wow, so we are still going to get the same old update nothing really new oh yes 200 new software updates that . That's not much of a new phone at all I may just get the s4

Personally a killer feature for me would be the ability to charge the iPhone wirelessly, I mean no physical contact with a pad or whatever. Another cool feature is that it could host a powerful processor so I could perform as a mini laptop that could be hooked up to a screen and a key board so it would act like a NetBook with a full safari browser, calander and iWork.

NFC is a Joke right now, because most Companies Don't have it, or..not set up for such a Feature, so..basically it's just not worth it. Hence why Android users Don't Probably use it.

That's really not fair to say. Anyone can have their phone stolen due to circumstances beyond their control. iPhones get stolen all the time, especially in places like New York where they are targeted by thieves. It's actually a major problem and has been reported on by the media many times.

lets hope in a rush to come up with something, it wont be another beta feature which would need a long time to be completed after it is released.
