Turkish President Meets With Apple Executives About Massive Tablet Initiative

Posted February 1, 2013 at 8:29pm by iClarified
Turkish President Abdullah Gul met with Apple executives including John Couch, VP Education, about the country's massive tablet initiative, reports Elma Dergisi via MacRumors.

Among the primary topics addressed during the meeting was Turkey's tablet initiative, a $4.5 billion program to provide as many as 15 million tablets to Turkish schoolchildren. Apple has reportedly been pushing for the contract, but negotiations are said to still be underway. Also discussed was the layout of the older Turkish "F-keyboard" on iOS devices, which has several keys located in the wrong positions.

Gul visited Apple headquarters last May and can be seen at the far left in the photo below. Couch is at the far right.

Father of F Keyboard
Father of F Keyboard - February 3, 2013 at 6:45am
Why the things are exaggerated during the news writers are passing information. Actually only one key produces another letter if one use the Turkish F Keyboard. Anyway it will take seconds of an Apple's software engineer to correct it. In Turkish news the issue told as "some of the letters are in wrong positions". Here it is written as "several keys ...". But anyway only one mistake makes this keyboard useless. There is one other thing about the keyboard. It is not an issue but a request. When you try to write an url address on Safari a special version of keyboard pops on iPad. Some punctuation marks comes in the place of spacebar. If you use Turkish keyboard /, :, _ and - comes in the first page. But for entering . (dot) you should switch to second page. Dot would be better in the first page instead of the _ or - characters. I'm writing these because Apple always acts as deaf when a user reports an issue. Maybe a president could force the correction. Such as saying politely "If you correct these two things I will buy 15 million iPads" :)

Buying 15 million crapple iPads would be a crime against the Turkish people, and the president should be jailed!!!

Nah. I'm inclined to disagree, friendly-like. Ignorance is a joke on the ignorant and a blight on the informed.

USA or American companies always take into consideration requests from pro-American countries. As matter fact, Turkey is so pro-American that they can be considered USA's cheerleaders! That is a fact, and that's one of the main reasons why Turkey is hated so much by the majority of the Arabs/Arabic countries.
