Microsoft has announced that the Surface Windows 8 Pro will be available for purchase on February 9th, 2013 in the United States and Canada. The device will go on sale at Microsoft retail stories, MicrosoftStore.com, Staples, and Best Buy in the United States.

Powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, Surface Windows 8 Pro provides the power and performance of a laptop in a tablet package. Starting at an estimated retail price of US$899, Surface Windows 8 Pro will be available in 64GB and 128GB models. A Surface pen with Palm Block technology, designed specifically to work with Surface to let customers edit, collaborate and get things done, is included with Surface Windows 8 Pro.

Microsoft has also announced that Surface Windows RT will launch in 13 additional markets in the coming weeks.

Other Announcements:
● Surface Windows RT will be available in a new 64GB standalone version for an estimated retail price of US$599 to allow customers the option of selecting a Cover of their choice.

● Three new Touch Cover Limited Editions in red, magenta and cyan will be sold at an estimated retail price of US$129.99.

The only thing I really wish it had compared to the iPad is its battery life. M$ is saying 4.5 hours for the Pro. It's more like an ultra book. Still a nice ultra book though :)

I thought Microsoft learned their lesson about the surface, but I guess Microsoft only learns from mistakes, not absolute and complete failures. I mean not only the worst and most useless OS to go along with the worst and most useless tablet, but slapping on a starting price of $900? Well lets see how that goes lol

It's barely a couple hundred dollars more than a 64GB iPad and you get WAY more. I too wish it was a little cheaper but quite honestly, for what you get and the build quality, I think it is exactly in line with the iPad. Perhaps even dollar for dollar, a better deal. Let's face it, for the $700 price rage of a 64GB iPad, you don't get much.
