A federal jury in Texas has ordered Apple to pay VirnetX, a patent holding company, $368 million for patent infringement, reports AllThingsD.

VirnetX also has filed complaints with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Apple, alleging that its iPhone, iPad and Mac products violate the company’s patents. In addition, the company has cases pending against Cisco, Avaya and Siemens, with those cases set for trial in March 2013.

Apple is expected to appeal the decision.

VirnetX response is just in: "We are grateful to the jury for their service and for investing the time to listen to our story and we were thrilled to be able to finally tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trail showed that Apple s copying went far deeper than even we knew. The lawsuits between VirnetX and Apple were about much more than patents or money. They were about values. At VirnetX we value originality and innovation and pour our lives into making the best products on earth. We make these products to delight our customers, not for our competitors to flagrantly copy. We applaud the court for finding Apple's behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right."
