Google has officially unveiled the new Nexus 7, a 7-inch 1280x800 tablet featuring a quad-core Tegra-3 CPU and 12-core GPU.
Nexus 7 was built to bring you the best of Google in the palm of your hand. Hang out with up to 10 friends on Google+ using the front-facing camera, browse the web blazingly fast with Chrome and, of course, crank through your emails with Gmail.
Nexus 7 comes preloaded with some great entertainment, including the movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," the book "The Bourne Dominion," magazines like Condé Nast Traveler and Popular Science, and songs from bands like Coldplay and the Rolling Stones. We've also included a $25 credit to purchase your favorite movies, books and more from Google Play, for a limited time.
You can preorder the Nexus 7 today from Google Play in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia. It starts at $199 in the U.S and will ship mid-July.
Almost all presenters said they will get that from their parents, well most old people have trouble seeing, how would they see on a 7 inch tablet ? Except for pictures of course.
And who comes up with these OS names ?
I'd rather see tech specifics than speeches about how much planning supposedly went into it. It doesn't matter how much they designed it, what matters is whether it'll sell or not. Personally, I'd never buy a 7" tablet (and that includes any by Apple, as well). It's too big for a smartphone, and too small for a tablet. It's a useless size. No guy will get one since it won't fit in a pocket, and it's only useful when out of the house (home network).
1280x800 HD IPS screen, 1.3ghz quad core cpu, nvidia tegra 3 quad core gpu, 1GB RAM, front facing camera, 8/9 hours HD video playback / 300 hours standby time, android 4.1 (which is looking like it'll bring in some nice features), and at a price point of $199. Looks like a decent product to me, in terms of value for money it seems to be a better bang for your buck than an iPad.
how can you compare this to iPad, since this is not include all nice options iPad has esp. retina display and greater sensitive multi tasks, much nicer graphic, smoother os, which are all coming up with cost!
Mini iPad will come out with a better feature but the same price; I will definitely wait for it. even with a higher price.
Tegra3 chipset with ARM processor, a ripe combination to hacked to run iOS 6. Just needs a Linux dump on video for frame buffer to accelerate video. The price is right. But then again, Apple may launch a 7" Pad for $250.00. Who knows? For now, this may be the king of mini tablet.
