Camera Shoot-Out: iPhone 4S vs. Nokia 808 vs. HTC One X [Photos]

Posted June 14, 2012 at 2:22pm by iClarified
Check out this camera shoot-out performed by CNET between the iPhone 4S, Nokia 808 PureView and HTC One X.

All photos were shot at 8 megapixels and on default settings, unless otherwise mentioned. For the Nokia 808 PureView, it was set to capture photos at "PureView resolution" and at its highest quality. The Nokia handset's advantage is its "pixel overlay" technology, where seven pixels on its sensor are combined together to form one "super pixel".

Which camera are you most impressed by?

I get waaay better photos with my iPhone 4s, these photos aren't even close to the quality I get.. So with that being said I don't think this test is fair to any of the devices being used. I doubt the One X takes photos of that poor quality..

Well it certainly isn't the 4s seems as though everytime you copy them to a PC they are all upside down!! Try it...... well worth $1000 to have a phone that cannot even take a video in portrait and if the volume buttons are at the top as advertised by Apple then the pics or vids are completely upside down when viewed from a PC

Wow, the One X is by a mile the best ! Despite the disadvantage of shooting only at 6 vs 8 mega

I have an HTC ONE X and my pics do not look like the ones displayed here. Also the article states that the default settings were set on all phones. In that case the HTC One X is at a disadvantage from the start. The setting for widescreen mode is set by default, which means that the pics are taken at 6MP although the camera app is set at 8MP.

Without a doubt the 808 has the clearest shots. The iPhone is very good, the X is the obvious 3rd place in each one.

The 3 pictures sucks!!! Ok is cool having a camera on the phone, but if you really want to take good pics you will always need a good camera with a good lens.

That is so not true. A true photographer can create great shots with almost any camera. It's more about composition and lighting. I've seen fashion photography shot with an iPhone 3GS that look stunning.

Yeah, it makes sense comparing a brand new phone's pictures to a competitor that's almost a year old at this point. Any phone, nowadays, will advance the camera technology with each upgrade they perform. However, I AM surprised how much the proportions in the pictures varied so much. The same images look like they were taken of different things. I'd really like to see a comparison SLR photo to compare them to.

If you want to compare cameras it might be a good idea to take the same picture from the same distance and lighting conditions and then measure and report those conditions. This article could have been turned in by a gradeschooler it is so badly setup.

True the results seemed to be very mixed at best. However I do think apple won that last round

I have a canon T3i and it smokes camera phones (period). Don't let ANYONE tell you otherwise. If you don't believe me... my 60inch 1080p TV (who I like to show pictures from to family and friend on with both the iphone and camera) will support that.

No way! Seriously!? That camera is better than a mobile phone? I can't believe it, pics or it's a lie! ... Everyone knows a real camera kicks a cell phone cameras ass, it's made to be a camera. A smartphone has a decent camera to take photos and videos on the go, mainly to share with others over SMS, mail etc.. Like compairing an electric golf car to a Dodge Viper -.-
