ElcomSoft has managed to figure out how to download iOS device backups directly from iCloud. The new feature has been added to its Phone Password Breaker Software allowing anyone who discovers your username and password to download your entire iCloud backup.
ElcomSoft researchers analyzed the communication protocol connecting iPhone users with Apple iCloud, and were able to emulate the correct commands in order to retrieve the content of iOS users' iCloud storage. It's important to note that, unlike offline backups that may come encrypted and must be broken into (a time-consuming operation), data retrieved from iCloud is received in plain, unencrypted form . The 5GB of storage space can be retrieved in reasonable time, while receiving incremental updates is even faster. The ability to retrieve iCloud backups is now part of Elcomsoft Phone Password Breaker. Existing customers are welcome to upgrade.
Elcomsoft Phone Password Breaker is available immediately. Home and Professional editions are available. Licenses start from $79.
BS. The tool brute-forces your device pin/password. not the icloud user and pass. if i have the credentials, I can use them to restore my idevice with your backup... no need for a 80$ tool.
marketing bs.
Why not just ask Apple to yank all their sales? There's no way they're going to allow this to continue, as it threatens all their customer's trust in the entire iCloud concept.
"allowing anyone who discovers your username and password "
So... this password breaker requires you to supply the username and password?
Maybe I should start a business like this.
I could sell hot dogs but be sure to approach my business with both hotdog and bun please.
@GG I think you should read the title then the paragraph again and a again.... Cause title says password breaker software then paragraph says different....
I don't know what part you guys are missing, but you are definitely missing it. The title and the article does coincide. You use the software to retrieve the password, then you use that to log into icloud. That simple. Problem is, the software really isn't doing anything special with icloud, because ALL you need to log into icloud is the USERNAME and PASSWORD. After that you have full access. So technically, the software is only needed for the password
I don't get what's so special about it either. Naturally your iCloud backups can be accessed with your Apple ID and password. Otherwise how else would you restore them onto a new device. I've done this myself. Now if the software was breaking your actual itunes password then it would definitely be a security problem Apple needs to fix right away.
I think it's this line:
he new feature has been added to its Phone Password Breaker Software allowing anyone who discovers your username and password to download your entire iCloud backup.
That makes it sound like you have to start out with a user/pass, not that the software cracks the password. Otherwise it would say all the attacker needs is your username.
