MyWi Has Been Rebuilt From Scratch for iOS 5.x

Posted April 5, 2012 at 1:44pm by iClarified
Intelliborn has released a major update to MyWi, their popular app for creating a wireless hotspot, for iOS 5.x users.

Create a WiFi HotSpot with a press of a finger! Wherever you are - you can connect your laptop or other mobile device to your iPhone/iPad easily. MyWi has been rebuilt from scratch to improve performance! Will work with all jailbroken iPhones (including 2G/3G/3GS/4) and iPad on 3.1.2 or later.

What's New in MyWi 5.5
- MyWi 5.5 release - all new from scratch (for iOS 5.x users only)!
- Faster initialization/broadcast of hotspot
- Faster connection speeds
- WEP and No encryption resupported for iOS 5.x
- Greater reliability
- Many bug fixes
- WiFi Sharing: Share your WiFi signal via your own WiFi Hotspot or via USB. This allows your iPhone to be connected to a WiFi hotspot, and share that connection to other devices via it's own WiFi Hotspot.
- MyWi OnDemand now uses Bluetooth communication to activate a WiFi hotspot. Allows 5x+ greater throughput over OnDemand.

MyWi costs $19.99 and can be purchased through the Cydia Store. A free trial is available.

I just wish it actually worked! Used to work great, but after the "update" not so much. Guess I will check out tetherme.

I had Mywi for a couple of years now. I use it every now and then. I works. The annoying things are it keep update so fregquently. I updated the latest update yesterday and it crashed my springboard. After read quite a few reviews, I decided to removed Mywi and bought tetherme tested work great with my ipad 2 and macbook pro yesterday. Have not see my springboard crash since then. I'll say"tetherme is the way to go" since it works and the price like 4x cheaper.

MyWi took too long to get their act together for iOS 5. Think pretty much everyone has abandoned them. Too bad. They seemed to have a quality product.

Does this hide me from ATT? I stopped using older version once I got the dreaded ATT warning text. No want to lose unlimited plan.

MEh they can rebuild all they want i honest thing it's still a waste tetherme is 4.99 and does the same thing and much better as it doesn't add clutter apps. It uses the iPhone's native hotspot feature and it mask all the data so carriers wont notice that you are tethering
