i4Siri Brings Siri to Older Devices Without Using Apple Servers

Posted March 10, 2012 at 9:50pm by iClarified
i4Siri is a project dedicated to providing Siri for older devices that do not support it. i4Siri supports iOS 5.1 and lower for devices including the iPad 2, iPad 1, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G.

i4Siri has just made their servers available for public use--without requiring an iPhone 4S. After months of beta testing, the team has put out a free version and plans to bring a premium version soon. However, since it is free, there are some limitations put in place to help balance the traffic.

i4Siri currently supports: time, timer, notes, 'smart' siri, www search, dictation, phone calls, jokes, alarms, weather, where am I?, Reminders (not completely working), Wolfram Alpha, and Location Searches

i4Siri does not use Apple's server to process your voice, therefore it is legal. The team reassures us that all information is not logged and is kept private and confidential.

Instructions on how to install i4siri, and more information regarding this project can be found on their website.

I have an iphone 4, ios 5.0.1 with baseband preserved on 4.10.01 unlocked for tmo, I installed i4siri and spire but cydia did not completely download it and i had to reboot from cydia. In the reboot, the apple logo didnt go away so I just held power and home and the phone restarted but is extremely slow. So I deleted spire and the repositories, but siri still remains an option in general settings but the phone is extremely slowww. I cant watch a video, I can barely check my mail. Please someone try to help!! I dont want to restore my iphone since im afraid to lose my unlock or to upgrade. I use gevey sim for unlock I dont think thats involved with the issue though.

Hey bud, would you care to share how you got your iphone on 5.0.1 4.10.01 unlocked to Tmobile, I am desperately seeking a way but have been unsuccessful. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If your baseband is already above it, there's no way to go back if it is already 4.10.01, your only option is a gevey sim, which you can find all over the internet, i'm using one now

Hey josh u can restore your phone using red snow with the no baseband update feature basically it creates custom firmware that doesn't require baseband update

A nobel effort, but that's about it. Save yourself the disappointment, and frustration by not installing this "tweak". It made 80% of my APPs unusable, not to mention it never gave me an answer to any of my questions/requests. All my APPs are now working again after removing the "SPIRE" tweak.

Yes, I had to uninstall it too. Made my iPhone 3GS very slow and buggy. Steer away from this!

Mine did that too initially. The problem is due to the initial 5.01 jailbreak not being stable with spire so a quick fix would be to install corona from cydia and all of your apps should work.

This issue is mainly on the iPad and iPad 2, the issue with the springboard crash occur only after rebooting the device while having spire installed. This issue is fixed temporarily by simply respringing the device via SB settings or intelliscreen X, but will occur again if rebooted. The only way to rid your device of this issue is to restore your device (hopefully you have shsh's saved as 5.0.1 is no longer being signed). I am currently working on a fix for this and also looking for help to develop it as well, follow me on twitter: 6italia0 to keep updated

I asked Siri what time it was. Her response? "what is your credit card number?" I'm not sure I trust the i4Siri servers.

It slowed down the whole phone considerably and the dictation never worked. When it started asking me where I live and how old I am. I removed all traces of it.

It's working for me, and all the apps I opened worked so far, so no bugs or anything... Sometimes it takes a while to respond, and sometimes it gives me the "I can't take any request right now" message, but it's free, what can you complain about?

Seems to get Siri working but it made all of my app store apps incapable of launching haha. Hopefully uninstalling it will get them to work again....

Well, it works on my i4 5.0.1, but, it doesn't do all commands. For example it won't access my address book, it won't take my name (Slawek) no matter what I tried. It called me a llama at one point. So, I dunno, it's a bit crap at the moment, maybe if they unrestrict it somehow?

Kind of off topic but with the new iPad (god I hate that name) being able to do dictation with apple servers do you think there could be a Siri port using the apple servers since it already handles the dictation requests or can apple servers tell the difference?
